Though we have an office based in Calgary, this is a remote position that is open to candidates across Canada. PurposeMed's office is located on the unceded and traditional territories of the peoples of the Treaty 7 region which includes the nations of the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Îethka Stoney Nakoda which consists of the Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Good Stoney. Bands, and people of the Tsuut’ina First Nation. The city of Calgary is also homeland to the historic Northwest Métis and to the Otipemisiwak Métis government, Métis Nation Battle River Territory, Nose Hill Métis District 5 and Elbow Métis District 6.
Who we hope to find:
PurposeMed is looking for a Senior Product Designer to elevate our product development practice by implementing and championing empathy and insight driven product design and across the organization.
As a Senior Product Designer you will collaborate closely with Product Management, UX Research, Data, Marketing, and other business stakeholders to drive discovery, product strategy, and usability. Reporting to the Director of Product Design, you’ll join the Product Design team, which functions as part of the larger Product/Design/Engineering (PDE) team. You will be a part of a rapidly growing team of user experience experts, surrounded by great people with expertise across diverse fields.
In this role, you’ll make an impact by:
- Defining impactful projects – Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Managers, Engineers, service delivery teams such as Clinical, Support, Pharmacy, and Strategy & Operations to align business objectives with user experiences.
- Driving discovery – Lead innovative initiatives by defining, designing, and conducting usability tests, experiments, and patient interviews. Collaborate with UX Research, Data, and Product Management to ensure design solutions are grounded in user needs.
- Creating informed solutions – Leverage design theory, user insights, and data to craft thoughtful, evidence-based design solutions that solve real user and business problems.
- Collaborating within the product triad – Work closely with Product Managers and Engineers to create solutions that are user-centered, feasible, and aligned with business goals.
- Fostering curiosity and design excellence – Continuously ask questions, validate assumptions, and iterate on designs to ensure effective solutions. Advocate for design thinking, lead initiatives that elevate design quality, and amplify the team’s impact through cross-functional and individual contributions.
We need someone who has:
- A strong foundation in user-centric product design, information architecture, usability, interface design, heuristics, design systems, systems thinking, usability testing, and user research.
- Experience driving projects as the lead designer or sole designer, alongside Product Management and Engineering partners.
- 5+ years of professional end-to-end Product Design experience in a fast-paced environment collaborating with Product Management, UX Research, Engineering, and business teams.
- Experience in scrappy and fast-growing companies.
- A high-level of skill with design and collaboration tools (eg. Figma, Whimsical, Maze, etc.)
Compensation:
- $87,000 - $103,000 CAD a year
