Senior Primary Casualty Underwriter

Ideally, this role works a hybrid schedule from any IAT office -we work from the office Monday through Wednesday with the option of working remotely on Thursday and Friday. Occasional travel is required. We prefer the role to work from our offices in Newark, NJ; Jersey City, NJ; Norristown, PA; and Cheshire, CA.
Responsibilities:
- Underwriting:
- Underwrite and produce profitable business within the authority granted and consistent with company goals.
- Maintain agency relationships, develop new relationships, recognize without bias any need to cease a relationship, and contribute where possible to the amicable accomplishment, as necessary.
- Communication, Customer Service, Goals
- Effectively express information and ideas clearly through spoken, written, and electronic means.
- Actively engages with distribution to market our capabilities, benefits, and features and identify new opportunities.
- Understands market/industry issues, trends, and competitors.
- Perform other tasks as needed.
Must-Have:
- Bachelors' degree and 5+ years of underwriting experience with an emphasis on Primary Casualty and Property lines or equivalent experience is required.
- Equivalent experience is defined as nine years of relevant experience
- Candidates with 8+ years of experience will be considered for a larger role and a different title.
- Must have a comprehensive command of all facets of the casualty & property business lines to facilitate the profitable risk evaluation, selection, terms, coverage, pricing and production
- Must have the ability to react and respond quickly and professionally
- Must provide creative, analytical, and innovative thinking to inure to productive problem solving;
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must have the ability to exercise high degree of judgment
- To qualify, all applicants must be authorized to work in the United States and must not require now, or in the future, VISA sponsorship for employment purposes.
- 3+ years of Primary Casualty middle market experience
- Completed coursework for designations in CPCU, CIC, AU, ARM, CPIW, CWIS or ASLI
