Senior Network Engineer - Remote

We’re looking for an amazing Senior Network Engineer to fill this role, which is based in our Seattle or Miami offices. You’ll be responsible for creating detailed solution designs and documentation that supports the development, implementation and operations of enterprise-class computer systems used globally across ship and shore locations. You’ll be responsible for the architecture, design, engineering, tuning, and optimization of enterprise Network systems and related components to achieve high availability and performance for various business applications. You’ll support all network systems solution designs across all aspects of the business including both ship-based systems as well as land-based systems.

Responsibilities:

Design and Deployment Leadership:

• Accountable team member for IT infrastructure architecture and standards development.
• Lead shipboard network designs unique to the cruise ship environment and satellite communications.
• Design, plan, document, and lead the configuration of logical and physical system layouts.
• Provide on-site technical management and direction to deployments teams.
• Provide direction for the installation and configuration of all software packages as needed to support business requirements.
• Perform analysis and develop solutions based on established service agreements for capacity planning and performance tuning.
• Participate in the development of system solution standards.
• Develop detailed design, installation and configuration documentation for enterprise system deployments.
• Ensure in solutions and deployments, the security of our enterprise infrastructure and compliance with all applicable security standards (PCI, PII, HIPPA etc.)
• Recommend and oversee projects that expand, change, or improve the systems and related infrastructure.
• Provide assistance in reviewing performance and capacity requests as well as design solution resolution.
• Collaborate with the Brand service delivery leaders to ensure an understanding of business cases and to ensure that the appropriate solution is selected that meets the business needs.
• Develop solutions with a focus on reducing operating costs or increasing guest and crew experience.
• Provide Capital Expenditure Request level hardware, software, license and labor estimate detail for projects.
• Contribute as necessary in a hands-on manner with the implementation of solutions in support of all projects.
• Work with other infrastructure teams for new systems designed and engineered.

Support: 

• Provide system support and troubleshooting expertise as needed for designed solutions.

Research: 

• Understand advances and changes in the technology industry and work directly with equipment manufactures to assess new technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, other advanced science or engineering field or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience with large enterprise networking, diverse security infrastructure and in-depth knowledge of current network hardware and protocols.
• Able to manage assigned technology area development and deployments.
• Able to manage contracted service Integrators for shipboard deployments.
• Successfully lead shipboard network design efforts for all related technologies, with considerations unique to cruise ships environment and ship to shore satellite communication.
• Strong customer-service orientation with excellent written & oral communication skills and excellent listening and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.
• Ability to conduct research into systems issues and products.
• Highly self-motivated and directed with strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Understanding of development and project management processes and methodologies.
• Understanding of industry trends as well as successful strategies and product roadmaps.
• Strong strategic planning capabilities with proven hands on implementation experience.
• Working knowledge of corporate IT disciplines and group dynamics.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Holland America is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time (e.g., H-1B status).

Required Technical Experience:

• Cisco ISR/ASR routers. Cisco Catalyst 3k, 9k, Nexus 5500, 6000, 7000, 9000 class switches
• Aruba CX 6000 and 8000 class switches
• Cisco 5500, 8500 Wireless LAN Controllers and supported APs
• Aruba Mobility controllers\conductors and supported APs
• TCP/IP, VXLAN, SSL, LACP, LLDP/CDP, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, HSRP, GLBP, SNMP, STP, VPC, VSS, VSX, PIM, IGMP, SIP, LWAPP, RADIUS, TACACS+, 802.11abg, 802.11n, 802.11ac, XML, DNS, DHCP
• Python and VMWare - working knowledge
• Cisco CCNP or equivalent enterprise experience

Please note that this position can be 100% fully remote, US Only (please note that Holland America Line is not setup to hire anyone in the following states: AR, DE, HI, ME, MN, MS, NE, NH, OK, SD, VT, WV, WY)
Must be able to travel internationally 20% of the year.

• Base Salary Range: $105,600.00 to $142,500.00. The range is applicable for the labor market where the role is intended to be hired. Final base salary is directly related to each candidates' qualifications and experience uniquely.
