Role SummaryThe FBI requires the on-site assistance of two (2) Senior Mechanical Engineers to fulfill the AESU team's design and construction requirements. 
**These roles are 100% onsite in Washington, D.C. (either the J. Edgar Hoover Building OR 1025 F Street NW). Individuals must have active Top Secret security clearance.**

Essential Functionsa. Perform and interpret cooling load calculations. b. Read ductwork layouts. c. Understand ducted and plenum return air systems, including Z-ducts and U-ducts in the design. d. Understand different mechanical systems. Review the advantages and disadvantages of each system.  e. Review the mechanical system layout in the specialized room, such as the data closet and the communications room. Ensure compliance with the Bureau’s Program of Requirements (POR), Campus Design Guides, and Construction Standards.  f. Understand the watts per square foot ratio for various rooms within the Bureau’s programs. g. Review drawings and ensure compliance with the POR, Campus Design Guides, Construction Standards and local codes.  h. Write and review the sequence of operations for various HVAC systems.  i. Review various 24/7 mechanical systems and determine which system complies with the Bureau’s requirements.  j. Participate in the commissioning of mechanical systems at the end of each project.  k. Calculate life-cycle analysis of various HVAC systems.  l. Work with the team to develop cost estimates for various HVAC systems.  m. Write the scope of work for HVAC systems.  n. Review air and water balance reports (TAB).  RTOR # Version 3.0 Page 4 o. Perform construction administration duties, such as reviewing RFIs, field reports, and submittals.  p. Act as a consultant in establishing design standards and criteria for construction projects. Provide expert mechanical engineering comments based on these requirements.  q. Participate in quality control and quality assurance during construction.  r. Coordinate with AESU peer colleagues, FBI project managers, customers, other bureau personnel/contractors, and other project team members on projects as necessary. s. Other similar or related services not of a decision-making nature. t. Miscellaneous services will require proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project software tools, and AutoCAD. u. Assist in the development of reports, studies, and presentations. v. Exhibit professionalism, good customer service, and communication skills and be a cooperative team player. w. Multitask and assume multiple projects or assignments simultaneously. x. Collaborate and resolve critical and possibly controversial issues with a multi-disciplined team of architects, engineers, and federal agency clients. y. Exhibit resiliency if shifting priorities require reprioritization of workload. z. Understand and be able to implement standards as outlined in the POR, Campus Design Guides, and Construction Standards. Suggest edits or updates to these documents, as applicable. 
Required Qualifications- Top Secret security clearance- Must have, at minimum, a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Mechanical Engineering- Must be proficient in the most current version of AutoCAD software- Must have at least ten (10) years of experience in commercial/government office building design and construction. Twenty (20) years of experience or more is preferable.- Attainment of a Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferable
