We are seeking an enthusiastic Senior Market Development Manager for hernia repair and bariatric surgery.  This person will lead programs to help leverage the breadth of Medtronic’s Hernia & Bariatric surgery portfolio to enable patient awareness, education and acquisition while facilitating improved patient outcomes for foregut surgery.  

The Senior Market Development Manager is responsible for leading, planning and executing disease state strategy, portfolio marketing and market development programs in support of the US Region strategic imperatives, including driving leadership, procedural volume, market share, and patient access. This person will also develop and manage all KOL (Key Opinion Leader) relationships for the assigned specialties.  The role reports to the Director, Market Development & Customer Engagement in Commercial Excellence.

This role is open to remote within the United States.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Disease state Leader and Owner: act as internal subject matter expert for hernia surgery, with specific focus (70% of time) in abdominal wall reconstruction, inguinal and ventral; 30% of time spent on bariatric surgical procedures, and be a leader to external stakeholders of the disease states for the Surgical Innovations business

  • Closely partner with the Global & Regional Hernia and Obesity & Metabolic Health leads and key cross functional partners on overall strategy and lead the regional refinement and execution of the US market development strategy

  • Execution Lead: Lead the development, planning, and execution of market development, procedure growth and portfolio growth initiatives that align with priority regional goals and strategies. This includes the creation of messaging, marketing programs/collateral, and demand generation campaigns, in partnership with cross-functional team members, to enable the advancement of hernia repair and bariatric surgery by Advance Surgical. This includes, but not limited to Sales adoption tactics, industry conference symposia, and other demand generation initiatives.

  • Develop and execute market access programs targeting healthcare stakeholders, including providers, patients, and payers – that measurably improve patient access and drive sustainable growth in target therapeutic procedures

  • Lead and build influential partnerships across regional/ global marketing, sales, medical affairs, HEOR and other groups to align Surgical Innovations portfolio offering to customer and patient needs

  • Lead key opinion leader (KOL) and medical society/ advocate strategy in Hernia and Obesity & Metabolic Health with Medical/Clinical team to establish care guidelines, guide clinical evidence & value-based care initiatives to establish programs that drive acceptance of key procedures and guidelines that support the Surgical Innovations portfolio

  • Develop conference strategies and lead Medtronic events at conferences

  • Lead and execute strategy for market research and physician advisory boards to inform market growth strategies and refine US Region strategy

  • Influences investment decisions in technologies, therapies and services by leveraging subject matter expertise and market insights.

  • Continually evaluate and recommend timely adjustments of disease state strategy and execution tactics to meet changing market and competitive conditions.

  • Travel approximately 35%

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 7 years of experience including experience in Marketing, Market Development, Strategy, Sales and/or Professional Procedural Education,

Or

  • Advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience including experience in Marketing, Market Development, Strategy, Sales and/or Professional Procedural Education

Nice to Have

  • MBA

  • Sales experience

  • Experience in the hernia and/or bariatric space, surgical experience highly preferred

  • KOL development experience

  • Proven track record of success in planning and executing market growth strategies.

  • Strong and on-time execution focus with stakeholders including Sales teams in a dynamic environment with an ability to be agile.

  • Experience working with key societies and physician leaders to develop and execute strategic initiatives.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$127,200.00 - $190,800.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
