The Opportunity:
The People Function, at its core, is here to enable our employees to be productive and impactful in their roles while getting to learn and grow, all in service of our greater company mission and the business as a whole. The People function at Caraway encompasses talent acquisition, talent management, retention, culture-building, and compliance through establishing and optimizing systems, tools, and guidelines all to ensure an efficient and smooth operating organization. Reporting to the VP of People,  we’re looking for a Senior Manager, People Operations to join our growing People team and support the continual building and development of the People Function. This role will be a critical sounding board for, and executor of, all things personnel and compliance related, and also People strategy and employee development inclusive of total rewards and data and analytics. In your capacity as Senior Manager, People Operations you will be supporting and leading aspects of both the ‘front-of-house’ and ‘back-of-house’ people function. Who You Are:
You're a seasoned People and HR professional with experience in all things People strategy and execution. You have strong experience in the operational aspect of the People function including PEO/HRIS management, employee benefits renewal and administration, leaves, payroll and classifications, and compensation and total rewards.  You’re self motivated and autonomous, can quickly jump from hands-on, detail- oriented data, reports, and systems to coaching and advising employees and leaders across the organization to developing People content, assets, and collateral and presenting it to the entire company, seamlessly. You thrive in a fast paced environment, have sound decision making, and a killer attention to detail. The ideal candidate is a charismatic and empathetic individual and enjoys engaging with, and mentoring, folks across the organization.    

Responsibilities:

Day to Day Operations + Compliance:

  • Manage, continually evaluate, and serve as the primary point of contact for all  employee benefit programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, leaves of absences and other voluntary benefits, from plan selection and enrollment to termination
  • In partnership with the VP of People, develop People & Culture policies and procedures to ensure alignment with organizational goals and legal requirements and coordinate with managers and employees to ensure compliance with policies
  • Lead the offboarding and exit process inclusive of logistics coordination, advisement and support, and administrative paperwork management 
  • Analyze market trends and benchmark compensation data to make informed decisions regarding compensation and benefits offerings
  • Update and maintain accurate employee records across platforms, tools, and systems, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality at all times
  • Administer employee leave programs, including FMLA, ADA, and other statutory and company-specific leave policies
  • Serve as the system administrator for the PEO, including system configuration, troubleshooting, and user support
  • Stay current on industry trends and best practices related to employee benefits, leave management, payroll, and HR technology
  • Manage payroll process through our PEO system Justworks
  • Partner with the people team to manage established relationships with vendors and approved outsourced services 
  • Support the VP of People in maintaining an applicable budget

Workforce Development: 

  • In partnership with the People team, identify, develop, and lead workforce development activities, including trainings, programs, and performance management
  • Partner, develop, and support the creation and implementation of foundational programs and philosophies like core values, leveling, compensation, career pathing, etc.  
  • Provide consistent coaching and support for employees and managers across the organization 

Culture + Events: 

  • In collaboration with the People team, conduct regular surveys and feedback sessions across a host of themes to measure and improve employee engagement, benefits utilization, remote experience, etc. 
  • In collaboration with the People team, promote a positive work culture through employee engagement initiatives and team-building activities 
  • Analyze People and Culture metrics and data to identify trends and opportunities for enhancements alongside the People team

Recruitment:  

  • Support, and serve as a backup, on recruitment process
  • Support the onboarding process and lead the offboarding 
  • Support in other functional People Team areas and projects as needed

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • 6+ years of progressive People and HR experience, inclusive of employee relations, labor laws, and working with external or in-house employment counsel
  • Deep understanding of labor laws, benefits, and leave regulations
  • Exceptional problem solving skills, decision making, advisement and mentorship
  • Experience with payroll processing systems and PEO/HRIS platforms
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex information to employees and managers at all levels
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to identify trends, analyze data, and make data-driven recommendations
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with discretion
  • Proficiency in G-Suite and experience managing a PEO, EOR, or HRIS
  • Experience implementing HRIS software (e.g., BambooHR, ADP, Rippling) preferred
  • Experience presenting company wide trainings, initiatives, or programs, preferred

The anticipated base salary range for this role ​is $115,000 - $130,000 - Final compensation will depend on a variety of factors determining the base pay at offer, including but not limited to: skills, qualifications, experience. This range provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role.
