Salary:  $140,000 - $150,000 + bonus eligible (commensurate with experience)

Job Summary

This position will be supporting Canteen, a sector of Compass Group, focused on unattended retail solutions for clients and consumers across the US. The role will be responsible for technical management and people management for Canteen’s core functions related to Identity and Access Management and Cloud Operations. This position will also be responsible for agile product management of our core platforms space.


The Technical Manager has the following responsibilities:

  • Provide technical expertise and act as a subject matter expert that can mentor and guide the Cloud Operations and IDAM teams in cloud, infrastructure, automation, and identity practices.
  • Function as primary liaison with leadership, product teams, and other technical teams across the company.
  • Connect with stakeholders and portfolio owners to create and validate features, execute system and solution demos, and ensure business value delivery.
  • Define and prioritize backlog items that guide the Cloud Operations and IDAM teams to ensure work focuses on maximum value that aligns with the department’s needs and strategy.
  • Partner with Epic owners and Architects to contribute to the product vision and strategic roadmap.
  • Lead agile teams to maximize value delivered, adhering to Agile best practices.
  • Maintain a current view of people supply versus demand, aligning this to departmental need.
  • Access Management Oversight– facilitate the identification and implementation of a next-generation solution for RBAC for Canteen’s current and future systems and ensure support of existing RBAC and user access solutions. 
  • Resource and Cost Management Oversight - ensure that cloud infrastructure is appropriately managed and that monthly cost reviews are performed to validate efficiency of provisioned resources.
  • Security and Risk Management Oversight - interface with security team to maintain appropriate security posture, ensure vulnerabilities are appropriately addressed, proper audit logging is available, certificates are appropriately managed, and password rotations are completed efficiently. 
  • Monitoring and Alerting Oversight - ensure all monitoring and logging solutions (infrastructure, endpoint, and user access) are resilient and appropriately managed.
  • Site Reliability Engineering Oversight - promote the use of automation to provision (or reclaim) cloud resources, update/upgrade platforms, and ensure that infrastructure, operating systems, and platforms are current, monitored, and secure.
  • Source Code and Deployments Oversight - engage with development teams to ensure pipeline support is provided as needed in accordance with security practices, and that source code is properly managed across solutions.
  • Business Continuity Oversight – ensure annual disaster recovery exercises are performed, backup and recovery practices are properly managed, and annual data refresh activities for non-prod environments are performed.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 5+ years of experience in cloud operations or similar role and the following qualifications:
  • Extensive knowledge of core computing concepts (compute, networking, security, platforms, cloud)
  • Extensive knowledge of identity and access concepts (authentication, authorization, RBAC)
  • Experience planning, designing, and implementing large-scale technology rollouts
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines (preferably Microsoft Azure DevOps) 
  • Experience working with orchestration toolsets (preferably AWS Systems Manager)
  • Experience writing and understanding PowerShell and/or Bash scripting languages
  • Experience leading team(s) in an Agile / Scrum environment
  • Experience writing AWS CDK projects or CloudFormation (desired, but not required)
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Managing conflicting priorities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
