About the Role
How you will contribute
- Identify, develop, and maintain company health and safety management systems, training programs, and procedures in line with all current legislation for the assigned country(s). Perform monthly safety inspections and maintenance.
- Represent the company at external audits on all health and safety matters. Ensure compliance to audit standards and work with auditors and vendors to answer findings and complaints in a timely, efficient and professional manner.
- Design and develop written health and safety procedures. Monitor, revise, and implement ongoing updates in safety regulations, laws or reporting requirements. Provide technical safety and health support and information to all employees.
- Responsible for the co-coordination of risk assessment activities including record keeping. Analysis of risk assessment, near miss and accident data to presenting to the senior management team. Develop long term strategies to reduce accidents that are data driven.
- Investigate accidents to include gathering all documentation in line with company policies, compiling all documentation relating to any insurance claims made against the company, and liaising with insurance companies, solicitors and other related organizations in pursuit of insurance claims.
- Develop & deliver safety training programs to reduce work place accidents and incidents including assessment of such training activities. Administer mandatory safety training and ensure all newly hired employees, agency employees, contractors, visitors and transferred employees receive proper training.
- Represent the company at any internal safety meetings, customer or supplier safety meetings presenting data, recording actions, and monitoring the progress of those actions.
- Work with the operational teams to improve the working environment and reduce the impacts to the employee from operational activities as well as recommend process and product safety features that will reduce employees' exposure to work hazards.
- Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety and environmental regulation compliance. This will include property in and around the facility. Review plans and specifications for development of new machinery, equipment or processes to determine whether all safety requirements have been met. Manage and support all documentation related to material handling equipment.

Your Key Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health is preferred with a minimum of certification in the designated country for health, safety, and environment.
- Experience in a health and safety role, preferably in a warehouse or manufacturing environment as well as experience in developing and administering health and safety programs.
- Familiar with country specific health and safety standards including OSHA, ISO, and internal audit qualifications. Understanding of DOT compliance and EPA environmental regulations.
- OSHA 10 hour or Basic Knowledge of Plant Safety and Current First Aid/CPR First Responder Training desired.
- Strong organizational and communication skills. Able to work and be flexible and available for on call hours before and/or after normal business hours in addition to off-shift hours.
- Able to travel 50-75% and manage multiple facilities.
How you will contribute
- Provide leadership, assistance, analysis and when applicable, standardization of the regional and business unit HSE systems.
- Support in the development and implementation of a proactive HSE Management System along with compliance with applicable ISO standards.
- Assist with the development, coordination, and compliance with corporate and regional HSE standards, programs, and promotions.
- Mentor and guide business unit HSE Managers.
- Conduct HSE audits and train in auditing and/or inspections of Business Unit activities to identify HSE risks and implement corrective actions.
- Identify and assist in controlling regional high-risk activities and processes. When needed, provide hands-on support to implement solutions.
- Liase with Learning and Development in the design of HSE programs that will address competency gaps in the Region.
- Assist the Senior Director of Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality - AMR in strategic planning of HSE goals for the AMR region.
- Where required, lead / assist in the investigation of serious incidents, the identification and implementation of corrective actions as well as sharing lessons learned within the Region.
- Develop understanding of LEAN and promote the use of LEAN Tools / processes to drive culture change in the Region.
- Responsible for the management and leadership of an engaged team, promoting collaboration and ensuring that each is developed and evaluated against goals and objectives which are aligned, specific, measurable, attainable yet challenging, realistic and time bound.
- Act as an ambassador for DP World at all times when working; promoting and demonstrating positive behaviours in harmony with DP World’s Principles, values, and culture; ensuring the highest level of safety is applied in all activities; understanding and following DP World’s Code of Conduct and Ethics policies.
- Travel of up to 50%
Your Key Qualifications
- Experience and/or education in business management, quality, training, analytics, or process management preferred. Experience working with HSE prevention programs is an asset.
- Minimum 7-10 years management experience preferably in the Logistics or related Industry
- Written program development, project management, and training program development experience.
- Ability to develop strong working relationships at all levels within an organization and mentoring various workgroups
- High level of computer skills including MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, MS Project, Power BI, etc.)
- Experience managing and using operating systems, data bases and various quality management software applications.
- Speaks and writes fluent English. Spanish speaking would be an asset.
