Senior Manager/Manager, Financial Reporting and Analytics

Position Overview 

RMI is seeking a Senior Manager, Financial Reporting and Analytics to lead the development and execution of financial reporting and analytics strategies, ensuring alignment with RMI's mission and goals. Reporting to the VP of Finance, this role will oversee the organization’s reporting infrastructure, provide actionable insights, and lead a Senior Business Analyst to deliver impactful results. A key focus of this role will be to build and enhance the organization’s scenario planning capability, enabling proactive and informed decision-making. 

Key Responsibilities 

Reporting and Analytics Leadership: 

  • Design and implement robust financial reporting frameworks, ensuring timely, accurate, and insightful reports to support organizational goals. 

  • Leverage data analytics tools to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, driving data-informed decision-making across the organization. 

  • Partner with stakeholders to develop custom dashboards and reporting solutions tailored to program and organizational needs. 

  • Support monthly program-level and portfolio reporting of financial results, operational metrics, and 12-month rolling forecast to senior management and the board of trustees. 

Scenario Planning and Strategic Insights: 

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive scenario planning framework to assess potential financial and operational outcomes under various conditions. 

  • Collaborate with leadership to identify key drivers and assumptions for scenario planning. 

  • Facilitate cross-functional scenario planning exercises to inform strategic initiatives, resource allocation, and risk management. 

  • Translate scenario outcomes into actionable insights and recommendations for leadership. 

 

 

Finance Data Strategy and Optimization: 

  • Lead initiatives to enhance data accuracy, consistency, and accessibility across financial systems and processes. 

  • Collaborate with IT and cross-functional teams to optimize the use of financial systems, ensuring scalability and efficiency. 

  • Drive the adoption of advanced analytics tools and methodologies, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. 

  • Increase program team productivity by effectively utilizing Adaptive Insights to develop and optimize automated processes and reporting. Continually improve the quality and scalability of program reporting, analysis, planning, and relevant processes. Simplify wherever possible. 

Team Leadership and Collaboration: 

  • Manage and mentor the senior Business Analyst, fostering professional growth and ensuring alignment with team and organizational objectives. 

  • Collaborate with Finance Business Partners and other stakeholders to ensure reporting and analytics support broader strategic initiatives. 

  • Act as a key advisor to the VP of Finance, providing insights and recommendations to support leadership decision-making. 

Strategic Planning and Communication: 

  • Drive the annual reporting cycle, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and organizational goals. 

  • Translate complex data into clear, compelling narratives for various stakeholders, including executive leadership. 

  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to standardize and enhance reporting processes across programs and teams. 

  • Translate financial results, forecasts, and KPIs into meaningful insights and recommended actions. 

  • Perform business case analysis to support decision-making around the portfolio and new projects. 

Qualifications 

Required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, or a related field (MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred). 

  • 7+ years of experience in financial reporting, analytics, or a similar role, with demonstrated leadership capabilities. 

  • Proficiency in financial systems such as Adaptive Insights, Workday, and advanced analytics tools like Power BI or Tableau. 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights. 

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing diverse stakeholders and driving collaboration. 

Preferred: 

  • Experience in nonprofit finance, including managing restricted and unrestricted funding models. 

  • Expertise in finance systems implementation, data architecture, or process improvement initiatives. 

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and navigate complex organizations. 

  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of cross-functional collaboration.

Location

We are a remote-ready organization with team members around the globe. Our beautiful and welcoming offices are available for meetings or focused work, whether you are traveling through or living nearby. Our U.S. offices are in New York City; Washington DC; Oakland, California; Boulder, Colorado; and Basalt, Colorado. This role can be located from anywhere in the continental United States.  

We provide you with the essential IT equipment plus a one-time home technology payment and a monthly work from home/commuter allowance to ensure you have a comfortable home office set up and necessary supplies.  

We love seeing each other in person! We occasionally gather for shared time together like retreats and learning experiences. Be ready to travel for occasional in-person meetings (and of course, we cover travel costs). Some roles may require more travel, which will be discussed during the hiring process.  

Compensation    

RMI compensates based on the level and requirements of the role. Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary range for this position is $123,000-$152,000. You would also have an additional 10% bonus target!
