The Opportunity

This position works out of our St Paul, MN location in the Structural Heart/Cephea Medical Device division.  Our business purpose is to restore health and improve quality of life by designing and providing device and management solutions for treating structural heart disease.

This Senior Manager role manages the team of clinical specialists who perform procedural training as well as all activities associated with performing an interventional procedure –- including scheduling, logistics, pre-implant planning, proctor scheduling, and case coverage. The position will also assist in the management of various clinical trial-related issues, such as achieving enrollment goals and implementing enrollment strategy –- facilitating the screening process, encouraging cross-site learning, sharing knowledge across the team, and providing educational support in response to physicians, nurses and other health care professionals participating in the trial. The Senior Manager will identify and routinely use the most effective, cost efficient, and best business practices to execute processes, continually evaluating the team’s effectiveness and appropriateness.   

What You’ll Work On

  • Manages a team who provide technical assistance and support for procedures in which BU products are used, including during pre- and post-use. 

  • Remains technically competent relative to best practices and the products offered in the marketplace, as well as field literature pertaining to the procedures supported by her/his team. 

  • Participates in the selection of sites for clinical trial research, according to site selection procedures and trial regulatory requirements. 

  • Develops, leads and/or facilitates training strategy and other programs on Abbott clinical trial protocols and products to healthcare professionals. 

  • Develops strategies to achieve or exceed enrollment goals, always within inclusion criteria. 

  • Responsible for the management and control of any assigned investigational or other inventory at hers/his assigned regional area. 

  • Identifies trends in customer, research staff, and other clinical trial stakeholder needs, reporting to the clinical director. 

  • Elevates issues identified related to product performance and potential protocol difficulties to the appropriate clinical personnel responsible for study conduct and other cross-functional (e.g., R&D) personnel regarding product development. 

  • Assures reportable events are reported within the prescribed time to trial compliance and/or PER customer service. 

  • Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Abbott policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. 

  • Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors. 

  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned, which may include communication evenings and weekends for time-sensitive patient and customer needs. 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors’ degree in Engineering, Biology, Biological Sciences or a related field. 

  • Minimum 8 years experience in clinical processes

  • anaging others in a fast-paced team environment 

  • Strong evidence of effective leadership 

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and/or facilitate educational programs to healthcare professionals 

  • Experienced working in a clinical environment, in the cath lab or hybrid OR, providing support for procedures, including appropriate conduct in a sterile environment (proper sterile technique, scrubbing, gowning, gloving); also extensive experience conducting clinical research following good clinical practice 

  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment. 

  • Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects 

  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization 

  • Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner 

  • Strong organizational, leadership and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail  

  • Ability to travel based on business need typically 50% of time, and up to 70% when enrollment / procedure volumes are high 

  • Demonstrated expertise with cardiac medical procedures

The base pay for this position is

$127,300.00 – $254,700.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
