I. Job Summary
Recognized across the organization for business and data expertise regarding landfill operations and air quality programs and policies. Sought as a resource for resolution of unique or complex business problems and the development of solutions for new business opportunities. Provides the highest level of data expertise while conducting highly complex analyses, needs assessments, and preliminary cost/benefit analyses to align solutions with the company strategy and initiatives. This position requires the ability to manipulate, visualize, and think critically about data, and communicate findings to drive change and influence others across the company to adopt newly re-engineered processes. Your role will involve interdisciplinary collaboration both within WM and with external partners to drive research and strategy around the measurement, modeling, and reduction of landfill emissions.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Wrangle data and conduct exploratory data analysis using SQL and Python to identify gaps and limitations and derive insight.
- Create data visualizations that deliver insights to decision-makers at an array of levels.
- Design, prototype, test, and implement descriptive and predictive analytics, and machine learning models.
- Support the development and implementation of emissions measurement and estimation standards relating to the protection, control, and management of air quality.
- Influence across disciplines and teams to ensure we are making data-driven decisions and solving critical problems in support of WM’s corporate goals.
- Oversees the implementation, and analysis of multiple enterprise solutions projects with a large scope and complexity to drive reductions in landfill emissions.
- Works with internal and external collaborators, vendors, and other partners to resolve problems, respond to suggestions for improvement and enhancements, test, refine and institutionalize solutions.
- Contribute to publications in scientific journals to advance research and policy.
- Stay current with advances in landfill emissions measurement technology and regulations.

A. Education and Experience
- Education: Bachelor's Degree (accredited) or in lieu of degree; High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and four years of relevant work experience required.
