Kickstarter is seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Accounting to join our Finance team. This role is pivotal to driving Kickstarter’s growth and success by leading accurate financial reporting, smart budget management, and strategic compliance, empowering impactful business decisions. We’re looking for an energetic leader who can navigate complex financial landscapes, inspire high-performing teammates, and translate numbers into meaningful insights that everyone can understand. This role reports to the VP, Finance.

The salary range in this role in the United States is $130,000 - 145,000.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead accounting function for Kickstarter and all subsidiaries.
  • Be responsible for the monthly close cycle including preparation or validation of all journal entries, preparation of accurate financial statements, and analysis of balance sheet.
  • Direct all A/R, purchasing, and A/P activities, build strong vendor relationships, remit timely payments while being cognizant of approved budgets and operating cash flows, and actively pursue cost reduction strategies.
  • Oversee deployment of invoicing, subscription management, and revenue recognition internal tool.
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and build the team; take an active interest in their career and development and find ways to continue their growth and development.
  • Establish and implement internal controls to reasonably safeguard Company assets and capital.
  • Drive process improvements by leveraging technology and challenging current processes.
  • Advise on technical accounting guidance for Software Capitalization (ASC 350);  Revenue Recognition (ASC 606); Stock Compensation Expense (ASC 718); Capitalized Commissions (ASC 340-40), etc.
  • Engage and build relationships with cross departmental leadership to help drive efficiencies.
  • Liaise with our auditors for the annual financial statement audit as well as our external tax firm for the preparation, review, and accounting of tax accruals, provisions, and adjustments as well as ensure timely filing of corporate tax returns.
  • Be responsible for overseeing team charged with managing sales tax collection and remittance for US and international transactions.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting with an active CPA license in good standing required.
  • 7+ years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Experience leading accounting operations, monthly accounting close, and preparation of financial reports, experience with multiple subsidiaries and corporate consolidations strongly preferred.
  • Self starter with personal drive and excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls and financial reporting is critical.
  • Experienced with handling international subsidiaries and fx currency translation.
  • Strong time-management skills, ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to form, lead and develop high-performing teams.
  • Ability to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels including non-finance managers.
  • Successful online marketplace industry experience with emphasis on rapid-growth, VC/PE-backed preferred.
  • Knowledge of systems implementations such as QBO -> Netsuite preferred.
  • Experience with marketplace facilitator related sales tax obligations and platforms such as Avalara preferred.
