The Team:
Upstart’s Growth team is in charge of expanding Upstart’s reach to the millions of Americans without access to affordable credit. We are energized by the prospect of breaking ground in our field and making a positive impact on people’s financial lives.
As the Lifecycle Senior Manager of Emerging Products at Upstart, you will use owned channels like Email, SMS, Push, and Web to guide customers through the stages of discovery, activation, and ultimately borrowing for our newest loan products. This role presents the exciting opportunity to have end-to-end channel ownership– including setting and meeting revenue targets, determining strategy, building Lifecycle journeys in our marketing automation platform, and analyzing the impact of your owned channels.
Position location This role is available in the following locations: Remote
Time zone requirements The team operates on the East/West coast time zones.
Travel requirements As a digital first company, the majority of your work can be accomplished remotely. The majority of our employees can live and work anywhere in the U.S but are encouraged to to still spend high quality time in-person collaborating via regular onsites. The in-person sessions’ cadence varies depending on the team and role; this role is estimated to meet in-person once or twice per quarter for 2-4 consecutive days at a time.
How you’ll make an impact:
- End-to-end ownership of Lifecycle strategy and execution for Upstart’s emerging products
- Set revenue and performance targets, track pacing against them, and make adjustments to channel plans accordingly
- Create annual, quarterly, and journey-level strategy that includes audience criteria, messaging, success metrics, and experimentation
- Partner with Product, Engineering, Growth, Creative, and Analytics teams to enhance Lifecycle journey effectiveness
- Present your channel’s performance and plan to senior stakeholders in Growth, Product, and Engineering
- Build, QA, and launch Lifecycle journeys in a marketing automation tool independently
- Determine relevant audience size and criteria using our in-house Customer Data Platform
What we’re looking for:
- 5 years+ of B2C Lifecycle Marketing experience, including building emails and journeys in an enterprise marketing automation platform
- Proven track record of creating GTM strategies and plans that meet ambitious financial targets
- Proven track record in leveraging a CDP, or customer data attributes and events, to build complex Lifecycle marketing segments
- History of creating, adjusting, and being responsible for delivering against forecasts
- Strong analytical ability– this role is data-driven without dedicated Analytics support. You must be able to pull data using a Business Intelligence Tool (we use Looker and Mode) and draw insights from data sets independently
Preferred Qualifications
- Ownership mentality. At Upstart, Emerging Products are like internal start-ups! You have experience in building strategy, getting buy-in, and executing.
- A user-focused approach to solving business problems. Journey mapping experience is a big plus!
- Experience in managing P&L for a channel, product, or business
- A power user of both Business Intelligence tools (Looker, Mode, Tableau, etc) and Marketing Automation Platforms (Braze, Iterable preferred)
- Ability to communicate effectively with both senior leadership and technical partners
- Past experience or a personal interest in financial lending is nice to have, but not required

At Upstart, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. The anticipated base salary for this position is expected to be within the below range. Your actual base pay will depend on your geographic location–with our “digital first” philosophy, Upstart uses compensation regions that vary depending on location. Individual pay is also determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
