Hartford Fire Insurance Company in Hartford, CT, has the following opening for a Senior IT Engineer.

Summary of Duties: Develop, test and support services and governance for life cycle activities and follow implementation standards and best practices aligning with architecture patterns. Collaborate with Application Development, Infrastructure and Database/Middleware teams to drive performance and stability improvements of critical business applications, architecture and integrations to ensure optimal end user experience. Monitor application trends (cloud and on-Prem) and identify opportunities to improve performance and availability. Design and implement holistic performance test strategy for end to end performance testing. Design, develop and execute overall automated performance test plans to continuously validate Load, Stability, Scalability, and Reliability standards of the application. Perform root cause analysis of performance issues and suggest corrective actions. Coordinate with support teams to perform bug fixes. Implement custom alerts for proactive monitoring. Identify key metrics for performance improvements. Use Dynatrace or similar APM tools to generate periodic performance health reports for application management review, production analysis of performance, availability and capacity. Participate in problem management discussions and employ analytical methodology/structure and engage appropriate resources. Position is 100% remote, reporting to office in Hartford, CT.

Qualifications: Position requires a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science or a related field, plus 5 years of progressive, post baccalaureate experience in the job offered or a related occupation. Must have experience in each of the following skills: High-traffic, large-scale distributed systems and client server architecture; Implement defined performance strategy at project level hands-on experience in debugging, troubleshooting and performance tuning Java applications and garbage collection; At least two of the following performance evaluation tools: Dynatrace, LoadRunner, Splunk, or HttpWatch; Micro service based architectures and operations in a heterogeneous environment spanning on-prem and cloud stacks; Continuous Integration and DevOps experience with DataPower or Jenkins; and MQ and JBoss experience with Apache and Insurance domain.

Salary Range: $145,995 to $170,280 per year

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
