The Senior Interoperability Engineer performs a critical function in support of this goal and the ongoing evolution of our technology and platform strategy: driving the implementation of data integration capabilities that allow us to effectively participate in the ‘team sport’ that is healthcare through the pragmatic application of interoperability standards to optimal information exchange to support ‘in the moment’ patient care and guidance.  

This is a hands-on role developing bidirectional data capabilities at scale and participating in continuous evolution of associated operational & delivery patterns in alignment with our quality objectives (reliability, security, safety, scalability, etc.). We are looking for people who want to shape the evolution of our platform and associated capabilities as we move into exciting new domains of technology and software engineering models for data exchange where evidence adaptability to new technology, tools, and frameworks will be an important trait of successful candidates.  

In addition to the above, some specific success criteria in this role: 

  • Shows understanding of the constraints/patterns expected in successful healthcare interoperability, but with a desire to push the boundaries of what effective technology can improve upon. 

  • Maintains awareness of evolving healthcare standards and compliance mandates and looks to ensure implications to technology delivery are incorporated where appropriate. 

  • Understands where tooling versus custom development will most effectively solve integration needs and shows fluency in both mediums. 

  • Logical ability to “connect-the-dots” when it comes from a healthcare process to a backend system to an external integration. Communication of that design to peers and non-technical colleagues to gather understanding and feedback. 

 

What you'll do...

  • Work in conjunction with engineering peers to develop integration models for internal/external integration clients. 

  • Develop integration services using combination of languages/frameworks/toolsets to deliver data services that meet quality goals (secure, scalable, supportable, etc.). 

  • Participate in strategy development for integration/interoperability roadmap. 

  • Use of modern software engineering models that with a focus on contract-first development, shift-left of design and test functions, and distributed software development and release collaboration models. 

About you...

  • 10+ years in software development for moderate-to-large organizations with mature information technology and software engineering practices 

  • 5+ years working in senior engineer role creating applications that are event driven (Kafka), queue driven (ActiveMQ, AWS SQS), and utilize technologies such as REST, GraphQL, or …
