Job Description:

We are seeking a Senior International Trade Counsel to join our team and provide strategic legal support to clients navigating complex global trade, sanctions, and compliance matters. This position is ideal for experienced trade attorneys who enjoy delivering high-impact legal counsel on a flexible engagement model.

Responsibilities:

• Providing strategic guidance on U.S. and U.K. sanctions regimes, third-party due diligence, and cross-border compliance risks.
• Advising on U.S. Customs regulations, import classifications, and audits.
• Supporting clients with regulatory strategies, internal investigations, and compliance frameworks.
• Collaborating with clients across industries to ensure legal and regulatory alignment in international operations.

Qualifications: 

• 8+ years of experience in international trade law, with deep knowledge of sanctions, export controls, and customs regulations.
• Demonstrated expertise in OFAC, BIS, and UK sanctions frameworks.
• Juris Doctor or equivalent; flexible licensure requirements depending on client needs.
• Proven ability to provide clear, strategic legal guidance and risk mitigation strategies.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience supporting multinational corporations or high-growth businesses in trade compliance, investigations, and regulatory counsel.
• Strong analytical, communication, and client management skills.

Compensation, Benefits & Location:

This role offers a range of competitive compensation starting at $150,000 and a highly competitive benefits package in the alternative legal services marketplace that includes health benefits, 401K and more.  Axiomites also get access to professional development resources and learning and development programs. Axiomites predominately work remotely, with the exception that some clients require on-site presence.
