ROLE OVERVIEW  

The Insurance Verification Senior Coordinator is charged with the verification and pre-authorization activities related to services provided by LifeStance Health and associated clinical practices.  The Senior Coordinator will work collaboratively with patients and office team members to ensure that all charges and benefits are appropriate for necessary treatment.  The ideal candidate will be someone who has a strong desire to work individually while meeting the needs of a national organization.  An important key requirement is the self-accountability to drive success in a virtual team environment.  This position is a remote role with the ability to sit within any US locality where LifeStance is represented. 

COMPENSATION: $20.00 - 22.00/hour

RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Verify patient medical insurance benefits through phone and online access of private insurance companies, Medicare, and Medicaid to obtain benefit information 

  • Determine insurance benefit compatibility with LifeStance procedures/visits including, but not limited to therapy, medication services, telehealth, etc. 

  • Re-verify existing patient insurance coverage and determine if an insurance benefit plan considers selected products appropriate based on patient need 

  • Obtain pre-certification or authorization for procedures and enter in to billing system software 

  • Complete data entry and/or appropriate forms to document patient's benefits coverage 

  • Alert the Office staff about uninsured or underinsured patients 

  • Provide accurate, detailed insurance benefits to the requester and detail in the billing system 

  • Work escalated accounts to facilitate a smooth billing process 

  • Keep accurate documentation of the verification process in the patient electronic chart 

  • Resource to other teams regarding the patient benefits 

  • Support leadership with daily, weekly monthly reporting needs as required 

  • Work closely with other team members to complete all insurance verification requests, tasks, and company projects 

  • Assist with supporting other team members when the are out of office to complete insurance verification timely 

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE 

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in related study preferred 

  • 2+ years of medical facility or medical office billing experience 

  • Advanced knowledge or expertise with Insurance Verification processes 

  • Experience working on EHR systems 

  • Professional experience and understanding of insurance products and coverage types 

  • Experience with automated billing systems preferred 

  • Experience with training in business office activities is preferred 

  • Demonstrated ability to research comprehensive insurance verifications 

  • Able to successfully collaborate within team projects 

  • Ability to work both in a team environment and independently 

  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States
