What will you be doing?
We are looking for a highly motivated and innovative Instructional Designer to spearhead the development of our technical training programs. This role will be pivotal to drive adoption of complex software products by creating engaging and accessible learning experiences for our customers and partners. The ideal candidate will have a background in instructional design, an understanding of technical concepts, and a proven ability to create interactive and impactful learning solutions. You’ll be a self-starter, eager to take ownership, and have the ability to adapt quickly.

Job Description

Here are the key responsibilities for this role:

  • Content Planning and Strategy:

  • Contribute to the development of a learning content strategy, for a product or topic area, that aligns with business objectives.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand product direction and translate them into actionable and impactful content plans.

  • Provide realistic content plans, track activities against the project schedule, and suggest viable options when demand exceeds capacity. 


Design and Develop:

  • Design and implement scalable and flexible content that can be reused.

  • Determine the "right content to build" including delivery method and effort, based on competency requirements in alignment with stakeholder guidance.

  • Develop curriculum for one or more applications and services while following instructional design best practices and department standards.   

  • Design and develop a variety of learning materials, including interactive tutorials, videos, assessments, micro-learning modules, and e-learning courses tailored for diverse user needs and technical levels.


Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure content aligns with brand standards and visual experience goals.

  • Partner with product managers, engineers, professional services teams, and other subject matter experts to understand technical features and align learning objectives with business goals.


Quality Assurance:

  • Conduct regular audits to identify and address content gaps or inconsistencies.

  • Seek and incorporate input from Subject Matter Experts, Product Managers, and Learners.

  • Gather, analyze, and apply data to improve training experience, identify learner pain points, and iterate on course effectiveness and engagement.


What you need to be successful (required qualifications):

  • A Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, education, technical writing, or a related field and 5 years experience; or 3 years experience and a Master’s degree.

  • Knowledge of instructional design principles.

  • Experience creating learning content for technical audiences (i.e., technical developer persona, etc.) 

  • Basic understanding of web applications and cloud platforms.

  • Basic understanding of HTML, XML, CSS and other web technologies.

  • Ability to gather information from subject matter experts and learn by experimenting.

  • Excellent written, verbal communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work across diverse teams.

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal instructions.

  • Experience with agile methodologies for project or content development and familiarity with project management tools such as JIRA.

  • Fluent in English.


Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with structured authoring tools such as Madcap Xyleme.

  • Experience with graphics and video tools such as Figma, Canva, or Camtasia.

  • Knowledge of cloud development workflows and DevOps practices, such as CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, monitoring, and logging.

  • Ability to read and understand commonly used programming languages like Java or JavaScript.

  • Knowledge of version control systems, such as Git.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $76,000 - $144,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
