Senior Indirect Tax Manager

The Senior Indirect Tax Manager is responsible for leading and managing the Company’s indirect tax compliance, audit management, and tax-related customer service efforts. This role is responsible for all indirect taxes including, sales, use, telecom, and 911. This position will also be responsible for property taxes. Responsibilities
- Lead all indirect tax activities including the implementation and maintenance of indirect tax best practices and internal controls with the assistance of internal staff and external resources
- Manage 3rd party return preparer services; including maintenance of tax calendars, timely filing of returns, filing positions, tax payments, and internal controls related thereto
- Act as a trusted advisor to Finance, Sales, Customer Service, and other departments on Indirect and Property tax issues: including research and analysis of tax impacts of new product offerings, billing tax engines, customer tax inquiries, and equipment rollout
- Review and approve tax clause wording related to Indirect or Property tax impacts of vendor contracts and leases
- Develop and maintain procedures for calculation and payment of use tax
- Prepare and manage Indirect and Property tax forecasts
- Review indirect and property tax liability reconciliations, including determining the adequacy of balances
- Develop and maintain exemption certificate maintenance process for both vendors and customers
- Responsible for management of all indirect and property tax audits/VDAs, whether handled internally or with the 3rd party assistance
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, taxation or finance
- CPA or CMI certification a plus
- 10+ years of relevant indirect tax experience
- Strong knowledge of US indirect tax; experience with sales and use tax
- Must have experience with indirect taxes in the Telecommunications industry
- Experience interacting with tax auditors and audit defense
- Experience with general ledger systems such as Microsoft AX and SAP by Design, billing systems, and internal tax engines.
- Experience with Avalara software
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
- Superior organization, prioritization and planning skills
- Track record of taking initiative to drive individual and team results.

- Comfortable and confident in a results-driven team-oriented environment
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
