POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Grid Services Development Manager position supports multiple Grid Services development initiatives to successfully meet key business development goals of the Grid Services team. This position requires a highly flexible, adaptable team player who is comfortable with rapid task switching to maximize value to the Grid Services function. This exciting position will support some of the most innovative work happening in the energy transition - from bidirectional electric vehicles to Virtual Power Plant deployment for data centers.
This position is highly entrepreneurial and the candidate will be expected to not only execute on assigned duties, but to also organically drive further innovation within the Virtual Power Plant (VPP) world. The Grid Services team operates as a mid-stage startup and each team member is expected to help grow the startup.
An ideal candidate would have analytical / modeling skills that would enable the ability to use utility system data to quantify the value to the grid of our Virtual Power Plants. Comfort with the policy and regulatory spheres is a plus. Strong internal reporting, and storytelling abilities are required.
Some amount of travel (e.g., to meet partners in person, attend conferences, etc.) is expected.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist other Grid Services business development team members on ongoing initiatives such as bidirectional EV strategy and data center VPPs.
Generate new Grid Service ideas, products, and models and work with the team to validate and then develop go-to-market strategies.
Work collaboratively with the Grid Services program operations team to help define VPP requirements, features and roadmaps.
Support with negotiations of contract terms to maintain external relationships and continuity.
Represent Sunrun publicly at conferences, meetings, etc.
Ideally, use utility modeling skills to work with the team to develop short whitepapers and other content that shows the value of VPPs in specific use cases (e.g., to prevent blackouts in Puerto Rico).
REQUIREMENTS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS, AND OTHER SKILLS)
Previous work in energy markets and/or utility energy services / demand response
Previous work in behind the meter batteries and battery-backed services for grid partners is preferred
Previous work in DERMs software and /or BTM asset-to-platform integration …
