Mercer Government is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Government Consultant I – Pharmacy Project Leader to join our Human Services Consulting (GHSC) team. This role will be based in Phoenix, Atlanta, D.C., or Minneapolis. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
Mercer’s Government Human Services Consulting (GHSC) practice has touched more than 60 million lives since our inception in 1985, working with state Medicaid agencies to transform Medicaid programs to better serve our most vulnerable communities. Our nearly 500 specialists provide comprehensive services including actuarial and financial, clinical and behavioral health, pharmacy, policy, and more.
What can you expect?
As a key member of our multi-disciplinary team, you will lead projects that support State Medicaid and CHIP programs, ensuring that financial, policy, and clinical considerations are effectively addressed.
We will count on you to:
- Manage day-to-day relationships with key client team members and present project results to clients and managed care entities.
- Oversee project management for government-sponsored health and welfare programs, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Collaborate with the Client Manager to define project scope, timelines, and deliverables, while developing essential project documents.
- Coordinate multiple project sub-teams, ensuring effective communication and collaboration among team members and stakeholders.
- Analyze data and financial information for complex state-managed pharmacy projects, ensuring compliance with federal regulations and actuarial standards.
What you need to have:
- BA/BS degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in managed care or health plans.
- Strong project management, analytical, and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in Excel and analytical software.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to clients and stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, hybrid work environment.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with a commitment to fostering team collaboration and managing dynamics.
What makes you stand out:
- Consulting experience and a Master’s degree in business administration, health policy, public policy, or a related field.
- Experience in pharmacy benefit management (PBM) and pharmacy reimbursement or 340B drug pricing.
- Proficiency in SAS (Statistical Analysis System) statistical software suite.

Office-based teams will identify at least one “anchor day” per week on which their full team will be together in person.The applicable base salary range for this role is $88,000 to $176,000.The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
