Summary:

Seeking Senior Level Mechanical Professional Engineers experienced in evaluating distress to existing MEP systems, machinery, and/or equipment who would be responsible for overseeing all aspects of investigative projects including coordinating with clients, performing site visits, managing resources, writing reports, conducting root cause analyses, reviewing building codes, and setting deadlines to ensure project deliverables are submitted in a professional and timely manner. The ideal candidate has an established network of clientele and is experienced with building, establishing, and maintaining rapport with this network.
This is a remote role. Candidates must reside the San Francisco Bay or Sacramento areas.

Role & Responsibilities:
  • Acts as a primary lead on projects.
  • Coordinates with clients to set up site visits and complete deliverables.
  • Manages project resources and sets/meets deadlines to ensure that projects stay on schedule.
  • Produces project reports that synthesize data collected from onsite inspections, laboratory examinations, testing, research, and performance analysis to determine the most likely cause of failure and provide recommendations on repair or replacement.
  • Performs site visits and laboratory examinations to collect data on residential, commercial, and industrial properties.
  • Reviews and interprets relevant building codes as necessary for issues about the scope of work.
  •  If requested, oversees the development of repair or replacement design scope. 
  • Makes independent decisions for projects including selection of analysis and testing methods and allocating resources relevant to the project.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred, or equivalent work experience.
  • Active PE license required
  • CFEI Certification preferred
  • 10 years of experience in forensic mechanical engineering preferred; relevant experience in design considered
  • Proven ability to write comprehensive technical reports on inspection results
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
