Senior Fixed Income Portfolio Manager Research Specialist
We will count on you to:
Undertake in-depth quantitative and qualitative analysis of investment strategies, portfolio management methodologies, and investment technologies to evaluate their potential to produce future outperformance. Perform and lead due diligence on investment management firms and their investment strategies on new and existing fixed income funds across strategy types and sub asset classes – with a focus on Emerging Market Debt and Multi Asset Credit. Prepare research notes and presentations outlining the strengths and weaknesses of a given strategy and stating the recommendation based on that research. Serve as specialist for the multi asset credit sub asset class. Work on global client projects related to this sub asset class and serve as the US co-lead to a global investor base of this growth area for Mercer clients. Make recommendations concerning the capability and suitability of investment strategies for key institutional clients and identify investment management strategies tailored to complex risk profiles. Design sophisticated investment management solutions to address clients’ risk constraints and formulate best-in-class investment management due diligence, recommendations, and assessments to deliver increased investment value for key clients. Work with Mercer’s Fixed Income OCIO (Outsourced Chief Investment Officer) team to determine appropriate investment solutions for clients. Create intellectual capital and strategic research related to Fixed Income. Present at Mercer’s Global Investment Forums and represent the Fixed Income Research team to both asset owners and asset managers. Provide feedback to investment managers on their specific investment strategies as well as updating them on changes to Mercer’s research/client processes. This ensures efficient communication in the best interests of Mercer clients.
What you need to have:
Must have a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Economics, Finance, or a related field plus three (3) years of experience working within an asset management firm and/or global consulting firm in the position offered or a related position. Must have two (2) years of experience with all of the following: Performing investment analysis including quantitative and qualitative due diligence of fixed income investment strategies; Leading client meetings and supporting client and business development opportunities; Leading dialogue with investment portfolio managers for research; Analyzing and/or recommending liability-driven investment (LDI) solutions; Asset allocation modeling and implementation to aid OCIO team; Working with consultants/clients to select fixed income investment managers for inclusion in client portfolios including multi-manager structures.
The applicable base salary range for this role is $139,922 - $208,800 per year.
The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
