About the role
We're looking for a hands-on Detection & Response manager to play a key role in Rippling's security program. You’ll take the Detection & Response team to the next level, helping an extremely technical team expand their detection engineering capabilities and continue automating the response function. You will work closely with other members of the Security and broader Engineering organization to enhance and support our security efforts.
What you will do
- Lead the Rippling Detection and Response Team. Managing incidents and ensuring our customer data is safe.
- Build a multi-quarter strategic roadmap which focuses on our highest security risks and drives operational excellence throughout the program
- Identify inefficiencies within the team and drive process and system enhancements
- Coaching and growing the individuals on your team through mentorship and performance management
- Work closely with our legal team, both during incident management and to make sure our response process is compliant
- Set and manage expectations with other engineering teams, management, and external stakeholders
- Help further grow the detection and response team into a world class program
- Maintain a relentless commitment to elevating engineering standards within both the team and the organization as a whole
What you will need
- At least 6 years of experience in Detection & Response teams.
- At least 3 years of experience as an Engineering Manager in leading small and mid-sized security teams
- Experience as a Detection & Response engineer prior to being a Manager. Strong technical chops.
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or experience in a relevant field
- Team development skills: ability to set a roadmap and goals for a team and every one of its members, delegate intelligently, offer engineering advice, deliver frequent and transparent feedback, work with team members to grow in their careers, and ensure everyone delivers quality results

Rippling highly values in-office collaboration. Employees living within 30 miles of an office are expected to work onsite three days a week with those living 30-49.9 miles away expected to be in the office one day a week. Employees living over 50 miles away are required to relocate within 30 miles of an office. To enhance team cohesiveness, new employees are asked to work onsite three days a week for their first six months.
