As a Senior IT Services Engineer, you will play a critical role in driving technical excellence across a diverse range of IT services and platforms. This role combines deep technical expertise in ServiceNow with strong leadership skills to support and enhance IT service applications, including ServiceNow, Atlassian Data Center products (JIRA & Confluence), and various Knowledge Management, product and project management tools providing first-class service and ensuring seamless IT operations across the organization.

  • Design, build, implement, and support new features and enhance existing ones.
  • Partner with Business Analyst, Business & Technical Stakeholders, Architect, and / or fellow engineers to determine the best way to meet business requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve L3+ production issues related to ServiceNow and various IT Services supported tools.
  • Proactively monitor and improve technical performance, supportability, security, and stability of ServiceNow platform / solutions.
  • Review tasks critically and ensure they are sized appropriately for continuous integration and incremental delivery, prioritized properly, and have dependencies noted.  
  • Participate in technical discussions with fellow engineers.
  • Review Code for others on the teams and provide thoughtful feedback.
  • Participate in the Major Incident Lifecycle including researching and facilitating resolution in the moment, reviewing and documenting root cause and future mitigation including documentation and transitioning knowledge down to L1/2 as needed.
  • Provide L3 Incident Management Support for IT Services owned Tools and Platforms.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for production support for ServiceNow and IT Services supported tools.

Experience:

  • 5 - 7 years as a software engineer or developer.
    • 7-10 years of total experience, including at least 4 years of progressively responsible experience in software engineering with demonstrated proficiency in project management, system design, coding standards, testing, quality assurance, and other related areas.
  • Technical Requirements (Advanced Level or above understanding): 
    • Programming Languages: Java, C++, Python, JavaScript, GlideScript, Groovy, etc.  
    • Database Management: SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.
    • Version Control Systems: Familiarity with version control systems such as Git, SVN, Mercurial.
    • Web Development: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks like AngularJS, ReactJS, Vue.js.
    • API Development: Developing and integrating APIs (REST, SOAP).
    • Software Architecture: Understanding of software architecture principles, design patterns, and best practices.
    • Security: Knowledge of secure coding practices and familiarity with security frameworks and vulnerability assessment tools (Must understand the best practices around building and maintaining security protocols in both corporate and retail environment).
  • Technical Skills
    • Writes production-ready code that is easily testable, easily understood by other developers, and accounts for edge cases and errors.
    • Proficient at using systematic debugging to diagnose issues. Helps tune and change the monitoring on their team according to the organization's monitoring philosophy.
    • Approaches all engineering work with a security lens, actively looks for security vulnerabilities in the code and during peer reviews.

    • Reviews tasks critically and ensures they’re appropriately sized for continuous integration and incremental delivery.
    • Ensures tasks are prioritized correctly, and that dependencies are noted.
    • Handles risk, change, and uncertainty within their personal scope of work effectively.
    • Ensures their commitments are realistic, understands their priority and urgency, and delivers upon them accordingly. Anticipates and communicates blockers, delays, and cost ballooning for their work before they require escalation.

    • Communicates effectively, clearly, concisely in written and verbal form both technical and non-technical subjects, and in an audience-oriented way.
    • Understands their team's domain, shares their knowledge frequently with their teammates and contributes to their team's documentation.
    • Helps teammates overcome obstacles, resolve blockers, and complete work tasks. Works to build strong relationships with their teammates, manager, as well as their teams' relevant business stakeholders.

The annual base salary range for this position is $135,000.00 - $150,000.00 The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the applicant’s qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will perform the job.  Individuals employed in this position may also be eligible to earn bonuses.  Sephora offers a generous benefits package to full-time employees, which includes comprehensive health, dental and vision plans; a superior 401(k) plan, various paid time off programs; employee discount/perks; life insurance; disability insurance; flexible spending accounts; and an employee referral bonus program.
