Come join our team as a Senior Director, Software Engineering in the Software Engineering and Delivery (SEAD) department, reporting directly to our Chief Technology Officer.   

As a  Senior Director, Software Engineering, you will oversee 50+ FTEs structured into many agile teams of Managers, SDEs, SDETs, and TPMs. In this role you will ensure the overall health and effectiveness of your teams – delivering and maintaining secure, performant, and scalable cloud-based software solutions in a services-oriented model.  You will be directly driving at least one major department initiative at any given time.  You will work with other senior SEAD leaders in setting and implementing technology strategy that furthers MCG’s business goals and provides an environment our people can thrive in.  You will also collaborate with other department leaders, most heavily Product and Customer Success, to ensure cross-company alignment and excellent end-to-end execution, while modeling our positive company culture.   

A successful technical professional in this role will lead through deep personal experience, data, and strategic insights. They will be obsessed with customer experience and outcomes in every decision that is made while developing trust and respect across the company. As one of the senior technical leaders at MCG Health, they will shape how we continue to transform the healthcare industry, drive technical execution, and promote leadership excellence.   

You Will: 

  • An exceptional people leader, this person will manage many teams (50+ FTEs); maintain a positive culture and healthy practices that make MCG a great place to work; ensure consistent, high-quality delivery; and inspire others to relentlessly raise the bar.  
  • Develop, mentor, and coach employees to help them achieve their full potential. 
  • Live and breathe a DevOps culture of accountability and ownership focusing on the 24x7 customer experience of the software they oversee.  
  • Be responsible for the execution of their teams’ software development roadmap, driving predictability and reliability.  
  • Stay up to date with industry best practices in processes and technologies, experiments, and make recommendations for adopting new approaches to better their teams and the SEAD department.
  • Attract, hire, and retain extraordinary talent who add to the culture and innovation of the company.
  • Effectively oversee planning, staffing, and budgeting with a 24-month horizon.
  • Define and execute annual and quarterly objectives in a measurable, repeatable way.  

What We're Looking For

  • 15 years of software engineering experience, with 5 years of leading and managing engineering managers and a function of multiple teams covering a broad range of skills (services, UI, infrastructure, storage, etc.) in a cloud environment. 
  • 10 years of experience working in a business with a diverse portfolio offering across multiple lines of business to large consumer and / or business segments with large scale audiences. 
  • 10 years hands-on experience of designing and building software and products that deliver high-quality experiences to customers and end-users. 
  • 10 years CI/CD, Cloud-based development, and DevOps experience. 
  • Extensive experience in modern, cloud-based software engineering in a services-oriented architecture. 
  • Ability to develop and drive efficient and effective people and practices (promoting a vision of high quality, efficiency, and fulfilling commitments, etc.) 
  • Experience with pushing beyond ‘requirements’ to collaborative problem-solving with stakeholders. 
  • Curiosity for new technologies, frameworks, and systems, and willingness to explore new ways to tackle problems and to drive better software outcomes.

Pay Range: $189,675 - $265,545
