Job Purpose and Overview

Dawn Foods is seeking a Senior Director of Planning Integrated Bussiness Planning (IBP) to join the Supply Chain organization. We are looking for individuals who are experienced supply chain leaders and are strong in supply chain planning and SIOP deployment.

 

The position will be fully remote but will be required to travel to our Home Office in Jackson, Michigan, or various locations approximately 30%, and will report into the Senior Vice President, Supply Chain & Procurement.

 

What will you do as a Senior Director of Planning IBP at Dawn Foods? 

The Senior Director of Planning IBP will be responsible for helping manage and balance both supply and demand strategies across all businesses and facilities within the Dawn Foods network.  This person will manage centralized supply and demand planning managers and will mentor and assist Dawn’s Team Members to ensure they are capable and enabled, our processes are clearly defined and executed, and our tools are optimized and fully integrated.  This person will also be responsible and accountable for the deployment of our integrated business processes, including Sales Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP) and Sales & Operations Execution (S&OE).  The successful candidate will be expected to do the following:

  • Develops, implements, and sustains continuous improvement in Dawn Foods’ practice of a robust monthly Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning cycle.  Partners with Finance in leading the evolution of these core processes toward a full practice of Integrated Business Planning (IBP) for Dawn North America.
  • Set up proper SIOP design leveraging people, processes, and technology that can be scaled as the portfolio grows and lead the roadmap and deployment of the initiative.  Develops long-term strategies to establish and maintain a robust supply chain and enact appropriate risk mitigation procedures and strategies.
  • Champions and leads change management across all key stakeholders to ensure collaboration and commitment to new ways of working leveraging data-driven, fact-based processes and fully integrated technology solutions.  
  • Defines, directs, and champions annual and monthly Demand Forecasting process, including deep commercial collaboration.  Measures forecast error (MAPE) and collaborates at multiple levels of the commercial organization to drive continuous improvement and improve accuracy. 
  • Leads monthly demand consensus process to align commercial, financial, and operational plans, ensuring that Dawn's plans for top-line performance are fully aligned with the delivery of profit plan.
  • Directs the development of annual and monthly Supply Network Plans to ensure optimal sourcing of production requirements, optimizing manufacturing performance, external / co-manufacturing supply, and minimizing intercompany replenishment cost.  Responsible for annual Intercompany Replenishment budget of $20 Million.  
  • Responsible for strategic capacity planning, ensuring that Dawn supply strategies are fully aligned with new product development and commercial growth initiatives.  Directs planning of capacity requirements over a 3-5-year planning horizon. 
  • Responsible for execution of full Product Lifecycle Management, including portfolio / SKU optimization and inventory obsolescence.  
  • Partners with Manufacturing Operations, Distribution & Engineering to ensure optimal capital investment to reduce total delivered cost while maximizing manufacturing capability and expertise.  
  • Through Supply Planning Managers, directs plant scheduling activities and Materials Requirements Planning, ensuring the optimization of manufacturing strategies, changeover costs, working capital investment/inventory strategies, and customer service requirements.  Responsible for On-Time, Full Delivery to Customers (OTIF) and Inventory Working Capital.
  • Responsible for optimized procurement strategies and utilization of technology to minimize working capital investment in Dawn’s buy-sell portfolio while ensuring all OTIF objectives are achieved. 
  • Partners with Dawn Procurement Organization to ensure strategic supplier commitment to reduce lead time and ensure product supply and pricing to minimize working capital investment while delivering on Dawn’s service promise to our customers.  Partners with Dawn Procurement to manage supplier performance through the development and use of supplier scorecards and standardized business reviews.
  • Drives continuous improvement initiatives including collaboration with Commercial, Distribution, and Manufacturing peers across North America.
  • Directs and leads budgeting assumptions for production, contract manufacturing, DRP, and purchasing, ensuring that financial KPIs are met or exceeded.  
  • Participates as a member of the Supply Chain & Distribution Leadership Team.  Ensure team member engagement, training & development, and performance management.  Accountable for creating an internal environment “where people feel valued”.
  • Drives improvement in the business and contributes to the overall goals and leadership of Dawn.  
  • Key thought leader facilitating Dawn’s Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning process. Leads the development and execution of an inventory and product supply strategy, which is consistent with Dawn’s overall goals and objectives.
  • Ensures that SIOP & Replenishment team members comply with and meet all legal, ethical, and community standards. Demonstrates “Dawn Values.” 
  • Creates Team Member engagement & commitment to service excellence at the lowest landed cost. 
  • Highly skilled in navigating and supporting a matrix organization.  Ability to influence and engage at all levels.  Excellent analytical skills to identify the root causes of service or inventory issues and develop action plans to resolve them.
  • Strong financial and budgeting acumen with the ability to analyze results and convert insights into actions.

 

What Does It Take to be a Senior Director of Planning IBP at Dawn Foods?  

Below are the minimum qualifications to be a fit for this job.

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience in the Supply Chain industry including experience in a Senior Leadership role in SIOP or Supply Chain Management.  5+ years building and managing teams as well as developing organizational strategies.
  • Experience in Project/Program Management, with experience in SIOP deployment preferred.
  • Experience operating in a Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) environment.
  • Ability to manage 3rd party relationships, providing supply chain oversight of raw material vendors and external manufacturers.
  • Outstanding verbal, written, and presentation skills necessary to communicate strategy as well as tactical plans.
  • Strong familiarity with managing supply chain activities at a manufacturing site.  Experience working with and preferably implementing ERP and scheduling systems.
  • Strong leadership skills that translate to working in a highly complex and operationally diverse environment as well as strong change management skills and concepts. Ability to work, influence, and gain consensus across multiple functions (Product Development, Manufacturing, Quality, IT).
  • Prior experience in Llamasoft modeling and implementation of outputs preferred.
  • APICS certification preferred.
  • Proven success in a Team environment and leadership in change management are required.

Compensation Range:

$137,440 - $240,520 with bonus incentive.
