Summary

The Senior Director of User Experience (UX) will manage the UX function across Guidewire cloud solutions, and ensure cohesive, intuitive, and impactful experiences for our business users. This role requires a UX professional with strong leadership capabilities in enterprise application design, a deep understanding of user-centered design practices, and the ability to collaborate across departments to align business objectives with user needs. Experience in shaping an enterprise design system is required.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities: 

1.Leadership: 

  • Play a central role in defining and executing a holistic UX vision and strategy that aligns with the company's goals and enhances the overall user experience for our users. 

  • Lead and inspire a high-performing UX team, fostering a collaborative, customer-focused and outcome driven culture. 

  • Drive the strategy for Guidewire’s design system, Jutro. 

2. User Experience Design 

  • Direct all aspects of UX design, including research, interaction design, accessibility, and visual design across multiple solutions in close collaboration with UX Managers. 

  • Evolve UX best practices and methodologies to drive innovation, product adoption, and improve user satisfaction. 

3. Design System Management: 

  • Lead the design, management, and enhancement of the Jutro design system to ensure consistency and cohesion across our product portfolio.. 

  • Collaborate with design, product, and engineering teams to integrate the design system into workflows, aligning with the company’s branding and user interaction standards. 

4. Cross-functional Collaboration: 

  • Partner with product management, engineering, and other key stakeholders to integrate UX into product definition and development processes.

  • Advocate for user-centered design and development approaches with leaders across Guidewire. 

5. User Research and Testing: 

  • Direct user research strategy to gather insights and inform design decisions in an enterprise context. . 

  • Determine appropriate testing methodologies to validate design concepts and drive continuous improvement based on user feedback. 

6. Metrics and Evaluation: 

  • Refine and monitor key UX metrics, including to evaluate the impact of design work and enhance user engagement and satisfaction. 

  • Champion accessibility as a strategic priority, leveraging accessibility metrics across products to drive improvements and ensure inclusive user experiences. 

  • Present findings, recommendations, and strategies to senior leadership to inform business decisions. 


Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, User Experience Design management, or related field. 

  • 12+ years of experience in UX design and research, with at least 6 years in a senior leadership role in Enterprise application design, 

  • Proven track record of successfully managing a team of UX Managers, and individual contributors in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating significant impact on enterprise user experience. 

  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of an organization. 

  • Strong knowledge of and experience with enterprise design systems, including development and governance. 

  • Experience with common UX tools and technologies. 

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects and prioritize resources effectively.
     

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $204,000 - $364,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
