Senior Director of Communications

Are you a strategic, creative, and resourceful communicator with a passion for storytelling and building strong relationships? eHealth is searching for a Senior Director of Communications to lead consumer, SMB, Partnerships and Brand Communications to lead how we engage with individuals, small businesses, and our valued partners. This role is about crafting innovative strategies that drive connection, build trust, and amplify our brand through impactful storytelling and communications.

As the leader of this function, you’ll develop and execute communications strategies across earned media, new media, and partnership communications, while also working closely with the C-suite, including the CEO, to ensure alignment and messaging consistency at the highest levels. This role is responsible for creating and overseeing the eHealth public relations and external and internal corporate communications strategies. You will build and lead a team, including managing a Senior Manager of Media Relations / Research + Insights and a Social Media Manager, to extend our reach and impact. This role reports to the SVP of Communications.

What you'll do:

  • Create and implement communication strategies that resonate with consumers, SMBs, and partners, leveraging creative storytelling and data-driven insights.
  • Drive earned and new media strategies, securing impactful coverage across traditional outlets, digital platforms, and emerging channels.
  • Lead partnership communications, ensuring strong alignment with external stakeholders to amplify shared goals and successes.
  • Collaborate closely with the C-suite and CEO, acting as a trusted advisor and ensuring messaging reflects leadership’s vision and priorities.
  • Act as the go-to resource for cross-functional teams, providing expert guidance on communications initiatives.
  • Harness AI tools to enhance communications projects, from content creation to strategy optimization, keeping us at the forefront of innovation.
  • Manage agency contractors as needed, ensuring that deliverables are on time and of the highest quality

  • Proven earned and new media expertise: You have demonstrated experience building strategies for traditional outlets, digital platforms, and cutting-edge media channels.
  • Experience working with C-suite leaders: You’re confident managing relationships with senior executives, ensuring messaging reflects leadership’s vision and engaging effectively with the CEO.

Qualifications:

  • Senior level experience with proven track record of driving effective communication plans in a fast-paced, direct-to-consumer business.
  • 15+ years leading public relations and corporate communications.
  • 15+ years of managing a team of communication professionals.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree required.

The base pay range reflects the anticipated pay range for this position. The actual base pay offered will depend on various factors including individual skills, experience, performance, qualifications, the department budget, and the location where work is performed. Base pay is one component of eHealth’s total rewards package, which also includes an annual performance bonus, plus an array of benefits designed to support employees’ personal and professional wellness.
