GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Senior Director of Child Wellness Services leads and oversees multiple Head Start and Early Head Start programs. Responsibilities include supervising and directing program and administrative functions related to child disabilities, mental health, behavioral intervention, and health and nutrition. Ensuring strict compliance with State and Federal regulations, as well as adherence to Head Start Program Performance Standards, the role focuses on delivering top-tier services that promote the holistic development and well-being of children and families within our community.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Administer and sustain the Head Start and Early Head Start grants through compliance of State and Federal regulations and adherence to the Head Start Program Performance Standards.
  2. Provide oversight of Mental Health, Disabilities, Behavior Intervention, and Health and Nutrition Services team including budget management, resource allocation, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  3. Ensure program effectiveness through ongoing evaluation, data analysis, and outcome measurement.
  4. Provide guidance, mentoring, and foster a culture of continuing professional growth, collaboration, accountability, and performance feedback among team members as part of the commitment to excellence.
  5. Supervise the Director of Mental Health Services, the Director of Disabilities, Director of Behavior Intervention, and the Director of Health and Nutrition.
  6. In collaboration with the Vice President of Head Start & Early Head Start and the Head Start Management team, establish performance goals and participate in effective and efficient program planning including program operating systems, Policies and Procedures, Self-Assessment, Program Information Report and Improvement Plan, T/TA Plan, Long and Short Term Goals, and other Head Start initiatives that ensure the delivery of high-quality programs.
  7. Cultivate and maintain partnerships with community organizations, government agencies, and stakeholders to support child disabilities, mental health, behavior intervention, and health and nutrition services to ensure program effectiveness and sustainability.
  8. Secure contracts with consultants and other appropriate community organizations to provide services to children and/or families.
  9. Support the implementation of best practices in trauma-informed care.
  10. Assist in creating the Annual Report, HS/EHS Grant Applications, Program Budget, and Community Needs Assessment as needed.
  11. Assist in preparing and submitting accurate and timely reports required by funding sources, the Board of Trustees, Policy Council, and any other required parties.
  12. Maintain continuous lines of communication, keeping the Vice President of HS/EHS and Chief Operating Officer informed of all-important issues.
  13. Advocate for the needs of children and families served by the programs and represent ECS in community forums and events.
