Location: Nationwide and 100% remote with up to 25% travel, mostly domestic.

What’s the role?  

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Digital Content Strategist to lead our content initiatives at Carl Zeiss Research Microscopy Solutions. This pivotal role will drive the digital transformation for our leading microscopy company serving B2B customers in academia and industry. You will be responsible for designing, managing, and optimizing data-driven content strategies across various digital platforms, with a strong emphasis on authoring in Adobe Experience Manager (AEM).

As a key member of a cross-functional team that includes Marketing Communications, Business Development, and Customer Experience, you will ensure that all digital content aligns with business objectives, resonates with target audiences, and enhances the overall customer journey. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in content strategy, user experience (UX), SEO, and data analytics, and will take a hands-on approach to content authoring and management within the AEM platform.

Key Metrics and KPIs of this position:

  • Organic Traffic Growth: Increase organic traffic to key digital properties through SEO-optimized content.
  • Customer Engagement Metrics: Improve customer engagement metrics (e.g., time on page, bounce rate) across essential digital touchpoints.
  • Customer Satisfaction: Achieve measurable improvements in customer satisfaction and journey completion rates.
  • Lead Generation: Contribute to lead generation and conversion through targeted, high-quality content aligned with business development efforts.
  • Self-Service Content: Reduce customer service inquiries by providing effective self-service content (e.g., knowledge bases, product guides).

Here’s what you’ll do: 

Digital Content Strategy Development:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive content strategies that support the company's digital transformation goals, prioritizing customer-first experiences throughout the digital customer journey.
  • Lead the creation of engaging content for web, digital products, email campaigns, and other digital channels, ensuring consistency and relevance for B2B customer personas in both academic and industrial sectors.
  • Utilize AEM for content authoring, ensuring seamless content updates, collaboration, and publication across digital platforms.

AEM Authoring and Content Management:

  • Oversee content authoring, creation, and updates within Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), ensuring content is structured, tagged, and published accurately.
  • Establish best practices and guidelines for AEM content creation, facilitating smooth workflows for updating web and digital product content.
  • Collaborate with IT and UX/UI teams to ensure AEM integrations support optimal performance and user experience across all digital platforms.

Customer Journey Mapping and Optimization:

  • Partner with the Customer Experience team to map and analyze customer journeys, identifying critical content touchpoints where strategic messaging can drive engagement and conversion.
  • Ensure content aligns with every stage of the customer journey—from product discovery through post-purchase support—delivering a personalized experience across digital touchpoints.
  • Regularly evaluate and improve content performance using analytics tools, refining strategies based on customer feedback and data insights.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with Business Development and Marketing Communications teams to ensure content strategies align with broader campaign objectives, product messaging, and sales goals.
  • Collaborate with the Customer Experience team to enhance overall user satisfaction and engagement through tailored content and self-service resources.
  • Partner with Product Management teams to translate technical information into user-friendly, engaging digital content that supports product adoption and customer education.

SEO and Performance Optimization:

  • Lead the development and optimization of SEO strategies to enhance visibility, traffic, and engagement with digital content.
  • Utilize data-driven insights to refine content strategies, ensuring they meet performance benchmarks, drive conversions, and enhance the overall customer experience.
  • Regularly monitor and assess the impact of content updates on engagement rates, user satisfaction, and business growth.

Do you qualify?  

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Digital Marketing, Communications, Content Strategy, Journalism, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 10+  years of experience in digital content strategy, content marketing, or similar roles, preferably within a B2B context.
  • Proven hands-on experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) for content authoring, management, and publication is essential.
  • Experience in creating content strategies that align with customer journeys, with an understanding of the unique requirements of the microscopy or scientific instruments sector being highly desirable.

Skills and Competencies

  • AEM Expertise: Strong proficiency in content authoring, management, and workflow creation within Adobe Experience Manager.
  • Content Strategy Development: Ability to develop and execute digital content strategies that are data-driven, customer-centric, and aligned with business goals.
  • SEO Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of SEO best practices and experience optimizing content to increase organic search visibility and engagement.
  • Customer Journey Mapping: Proficiency in mapping and enhancing customer journeys, ensuring content meets user needs at every touchpoint.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to interpret content performance data and use insights to optimize and improve content effectiveness.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Excellent ability to work with cross-functional teams, clearly and effectively communicating complex ideas across departments.

Working Conditions and Special Demands:

  • Willingness and ability to travel globally as needed.

The annual pay range for this position is $131,000 -$164,000.

The salary offered for this role may be influenced by factors such as job location, scope of role, qualifications, education, experience, & complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent.

     

This position is eligible for a performance bonus or sales commissions.
