As a Senior Database Engineer - PostgreSQL you will be a critical contributor to Healthie’s Platform Engineering team. The Healthie product is one of the most important pieces of digital infrastructure in the healthcare landscape, and increasingly so every day. The Platform team is responsible for the infrastructure and reliability of this platform. Our roadmaps are always designed with the goal of achieving the best possible outcomes. Joining our platform team of specialists, you will bring your expertise in PostgreSQL database design and deployment. You will play a transformative role in how we deploy, scale (both horizontally and vertically), monitor, and refine our PostgreSQL databases, directly enhancing Healthie's data model.

Strong familiarity with ORMs, in particular Rails/ActiveRecord, is a big plus! 

Responsibilities: What you’ll be doing and held accountable for:

Amazon AWS RDS Aurora Postgres deployment, operation, and performance at scale.

Primary Responsibilities

• Leading and owning our transition from standalone Postgres instances hosted on a PAAS to Aurora
• Administration of production, QA, and development database infrastructure
• Database Infrastructure Setup, Configuration, upgrading/Patching, Monitoring and solving 
• Maintain automation scripts for database infrastructure
• Design and execute standard and robust methodologies for partitioning tables, archiving data, and accessing archived data
• Design and execute zero- or minimal-downtime upgrades
• Design, test, and (hopefully never) execute disaster recovery solutions
• Measurement and optimization of system performance
• Best practices configuration and tuning of postgres for performance, maintenance, and availability
• Capacity planning and forecast management
• Continually improving performance and security instrumentation.
