Position Summary: The Senior Data Scientist, Oncology Product Development will join our innovative R&D Data group. This role involves designing, prototyping, and productizing advanced algorithms for genetic data analysis to support Natera's Oncology program. As a key contributor, you will perform data analysis, contribute to our intellectual property portfolio, and work closely with our molecular biology and biostatistics teams to guide and analyze experiments.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and enhance probability models and algorithms to build cutting-edge products.
  • Improve analysis pipelines for diagnostic tests, including variant detection and quality control.
  • Lead the product development process from research through commercial launch.
  • Contribute to our intellectual property portfolio with innovative solutions.
  • Conduct rigorous data analysis and support high-quality documentation efforts.
  • Collaborate on molecular biology experiments to guide research and development.

Qualifications:

  • Master's or Ph.D. in a quantitative field (Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or similar).
  • Minimum of three years of post-graduate experience in data science, utilizing software such as Python, or extensive experience in a procedural language such as C++.
  • Strong foundation in probability theory and estimation/classification methods.
  • Proven ability to apply mathematical principles to real-world estimation problems.
  • Prior experience with next-generation sequencing (NGS) and/or genetic testing.

Desirable but not required:

  • Experience with a database query language such as SQL.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in Python for data analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to thrive in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
  • Experience in experimental design and statistical modeling/inference.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of cross-functional teams.
