Our Data Team

At Second Dinner, data plays a crucial role in conveying the voices of our players and fueling the most fun player experiences. Our team informs decision-making with scientific and methodological rigor. We build data and machine learning-powered player experiences directly into the game. We innovate in data and analytics tooling to redefine what is possible in game development and operations.

Your Role

You will report to the Director of Data, and focus on building and operating data infrastructure to empower our marketing and game teams. Your primary responsibility is to ensure that our data is both high-quality and accessible, enabling teams to make data-driven decisions quickly and effectively. You’ll collaborate closely with data scientists, analysts, and engineers to deliver robust pipelines and innovative self-service analytics tools. By partnering with marketing and game teams, you’ll help refine user acquisition and retention strategies through precise and timely data insights. What You’ll Do:

  • Develop and operate data infrastructure and pipelines to enable robust data for analytics and reporting for Marketing

  • Empower the Marketing team with high-quality data to improve user acquisition (UA) and retention strategies

  • Enable SNAP Product Management, Analytics, Design, Engineering, and Production teams to gain insights from analytics quickly and effectively

  • Partner with data scientists, analysts, and software engineers to ensure high-quality and relevant data collection

  • Collaborate with the AI team to innovate, develop, and operate self-service analytics tools

What You’ll Need:

  • Extensive expertise with data infrastructure and data engineering

  • Demonstrated experience in large-scale distributed data systems such as Spark and Flink

  • Deep expertise in analytical database technologies, including SQL and NoSQL

  • Proficiency in SQL and Python

  • Experience with database technologies and ETL/ELT processes

  • Experience with orchestration and automation tools like Airflow and Beam

  • Experience with Databricks and AWS-based data/analytics solutions

  • Knowledge of marketing platforms and data tools such as Braze and AppsFlyer

  • Proven success in collaborative cross-functional work environments

  • Passion for serving a diverse and global player base

Nice to Have, But Not Necessary:

  • Experience working in online video games, preferably mobile free-to-play games

  • Proficiency in C# and backend software development

  • Experience in building and integrating data pipelines for customer-facing live services (e.g., recommenders)

  • Knowledge of operational database and storage technologies (e.g., DynamoDB, Cassandra, Redis)

The total compensation for this position includes a new hire offer base salary range of $150,000 to $190,000 USD + equity + comprehensive benefits + potential for discretionary performance bonuses.

Individual pay within this salary range may span multiple levels within the discipline and is determined by assessed job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training. It also factors in market demands and business needs. The disclosed range is not adjusted based on location and may be subject to change or modification based on business needs in the future. Your recruiter can answer any questions about new hire total compensation during the hiring process.
