About the role
Medallion is revolutionizing healthcare operations, and we need a Senior Counsel, Healthcare to help us navigate the complex regulatory landscape as we scale. As Medallion’s second legal hire, you will partner closely with our General Counsel and operational leaders and will have the opportunity to shape our legal strategy, act as a thought partner to leadership, and establish best practices in your area of expertise. This is a unique opportunity for a highly motivated attorney to make a meaningful impact in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.
As the Senior Counsel, Healthcare, you will be a key member of our growing legal team, providing expert guidance on regulatory and compliance matters across credentialing, provider licensing, payer enrollment, and privacy/security. You will work cross-functionally with internal stakeholders, external regulatory entities, and major payers to ensure compliance while enabling business innovation. This role requires a pragmatic and strategic mindset—balancing legal risk with operational efficiency to drive Medallion’s mission forward.
This role reports to the General Counsel and base compensation for this role may land between $200,000 - $265,000. In addition to base salary, Medallion offers competitive equity and benefits as part of the total compensation package. Many factors are considered when determining pay including: market data, geographic location, skills, qualifications, experience, and level.
What you'll do
- Serve as a subject matter expert on credentialing, privileging, payer enrollment, and provider licensing, ensuring compliance with NCQA requirements, CMS regulations, and state CMS contracts.
- Advise on privacy and security compliance and best practices.
- Work directly with regulatory entities (e.g., state medical boards) and large payers to facilitate compliance and support Medallion’s growth.
- Collaborate with Product & Engineering to embed regulatory requirements into our platform, ensuring compliance is built into product functionality.
- Assess and advise on legal risks as we expand product offerings, balancing compliance with innovation.
- Foster strong relationships with regulatory bodies and large payers, ensuring clear communication and alignment.
- Support the Revenue team by ensuring commercial agreements and processes reflect an understanding of customer needs and regulatory frameworks.
- Help position Medallion as a healthcare compliance leader, providing thought leadership and best practices to customers.

Qualifications
- JD degree and must be admitted to the bar and in good standing to practice law in the state in which you reside
- 7+ years of total experience, including 2+ practicing at a top-tier law firm and preferably 2+ in a tech / startup environment (preferably B2B)
- Experience supporting medium size sales organizations selling to an enterprise customer base
- Deep knowledge of credentialing, licensing, payer enrollment, and compliance regulations
- Preferably also have: specific familiarity with NCQA standards, CMS regulations, and state medical board processes.
- Experience interacting with regulatory agencies, state medical boards, and large payers
