Summary:

The Senior Compliance Consultant provides support to the Clear Spring Property and Casualty Group companies to help meet the various state and federal compliance requirements.  They are a key resource for the business to help get product filed and approved with the states and bureaus, keep up to date with changes to laws, regulations, bulletins, circulars and monitor compliance with them, oversee producer compliance, program compliance, and other projects as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops filing strategy for new products, programs, and changes to existing ones to meet business deliverables and helps submit filings in System for Electronic Form Filings (SERFF).

  • Reviews, analyzes, and monitors compliance with state, federal, and bureau requirements and changes to them in compliance with required effective dates.

  • Research single and multi-state compliance requirements to facilitate compliance or respond to specific issues.

  • Leads complex compliance projects and works with business colleagues to set timelines of key projects and ensures the project deadlines as well as any statutory / regulatory deadlines are met.

  • Handles company compliance requirements for producers, including the contracting, appointment and termination process.

  • Provides guidance and acts as liaison between company and regulatory personnel on market conduct exams and other regulatory audits including Bureau audits.

  • Leads development and adherence to all policies and procedures to facilitate compliance needs of the business.

  • Coaches and helps train team and business partners in best practices for regulatory compliance.

  • Acts as a liaison to state, federal and bureau representatives.

  • Oversee company Anti-Fraud compliance and liaison with vendor.

  • Drafts state specific form language to countrywide forms to comply with state laws and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • 5 + years of Property & Casualty commercial lines compliance experience, particularly in a senior role.

  • An additional insurance-related certification, such as CPCU, MCM, AIE, CIE preferred

  • Must exhibit expertise in industry trends, state regulations, and compliance processes.

  • Must promote and exemplify appropriate and effective decision-making.

  • Promotes and exemplifies a culture of collaboration, including stakeholders at various levels and in various departments.

  • Effective prioritization and organization.

  • Ability to drive key projects to completion.

  • Experience using SERFF

  • Experience using StateFilings.com, Filing Ramp, or similar platform.

  • Ability to use legal research tools.

Skills:

  • Commercial Lines Product knowledge especially in Workers’ Compensation.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with both internal business partners and external regulators.

  • Project Management.

  • Computer and Web based skills.  Working knowledge of MS Office 365 applications including Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

  • Organization skills – Ability to handle multiple priorities.

  • Knowledge of P&C Insurance Company Operations, Functions, and Organization Structure.

Compensation:  

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $90,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $110,000/year in our highest geographic market.  Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
