The Cloud Architect role directly supports this through the design and support of the platform for optimized and scaled use of cloud services to ensure quality objectives for our members, including data security, reliability of services, and compliance interoperability with partner organizations.
This role will join our DevOps organization: a lean experienced team with direct stakeholders in engineering, operations, SREs, security, compliance, etc. Our platform follows the goal of being cloud native with modern patterns, thoughtful selection of technology solutions, a clear eye on security/privacy control considerations among multiple other sibling non-functional considerations. We aspire to provide efficient and reliable GitOps and automation. We are social beings that emphasize communication and collaboration through the mechanisms like practice guilds, peer development, documenting our decisions and plans, and maintaining awareness of industry patterns and practices evolution.
What you’ll do…
Provides thought leadership and design support for cloud environments with a focus on networking, business/functional segmentation and isolation, and most appropriate use of cloud vendor managed services for platform infrastructure (network, data, hosting, ingress/egress, etc.)
Support collaborative design of technical cloud architectural blueprints for repeatable implementation patterns that align with our quality goals and anticipate future platform growth
Implement and oversee all aspects of the cloud environment including provisioning, scale, monitoring, and security
Collaborate closely with Information security, Architecture (Enterprise, Solutions, Application), and DevOps/SRE stakeholders to develop patterns and practices for consistent intake and implementation of platform change requirements
Provide leadership in infrastructure migration methodologies across cloud accounts / hosting models
Perform review / refinement of design of new cloud or SaaS solutions to ensure adherence to architecture patterns and quality goals.
Implement required systems, solutions, and processes needed to manage cloud cost, monitoring, scalability, and redundancy are accounted for and continuously validated
Ensure all cloud solutions adhere to security and compliance best practices
About you…
8+ years in Platform DevOps or technical architecture role, with proven experience in different hosting environments (colo, cloud)
Deep experience working with common cloud capabilities (IAM, VPC, Databases, multi-region, etc.) and designing/deploying at scale
Experience with networking considerations for security, scale, and segmentation (example: Web application firewalls, stateful inspection methods, network address translation, load balancing, transit gateways)
Demonstratable networking knowledge (OSI model, CIDRs, DNS, troubleshooting, etc.)
Experience working with IaC (Infrastructure as code) tools like Terraform/HCL and associated conventions (ex: control logic, patterns and composition, etc.)
Demonstratable security knowledge (PKI, restricted data, etc.)
Demonstratable Linux and shell skills
Demonstratable SCM/Git skills
Certification with cloud vendors for architecture is a plus (ex: AWS Certified Solutions Architect or similar)
Some experience working in a regulated business environment (ex: Healthcare) is a plus

In compliance with New York City's Wage Transparency Law, the annual salary [wage] range for NYC-based applicants is: $175,000 - $185,000. There are a variety of factors that go into determining a salary range, including but not limited to external market benchmark data, geographic location, and years of experience sought/required. Progyny offers a total compensation package comprised of base salary, cash bonus, and equity.
