The Role
Join our dynamic research team as a Senior Clinical Documentation Specialist and embark on an exciting journey of annotating clinical notes. This fully remote position offers a unique opportunity to apply your expertise in medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology to ensure accurate diagnostic and procedural coding. By working on this, you'll be directly enhancing our AI algorithms and systems, making a significant impact on the future of healthcare technology.
What You'll Do
Review and Code Documentation: Accurately assign ICD (International Classification of Diseases) and CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes to medical records, and other clinical documents.
Ensure Compliance: Adhere to federal regulations, payer policies, and healthcare industry standards to ensure coding compliance.
Collaborate: Work closely with the research team, product team, healthcare providers and UI/UX team to accurately identify the elements in need of annotation.
Stay Updated: Keep abreast of coding guidelines, reimbursement policies, and healthcare regulations.
Maintain Confidentiality: Protect patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Develop Policies: Contribute to the development and implementation of coding policies, procedures, and training programs.
What You'll Bring
3+ years of experience in medical coding within a healthcare setting
Experience with Medical Decision Making coding (Level of Service)
Expertise in ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT coding systems
Inpatient and outpatient coding experience
Experience with HCC coding
Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and coding software
Strong understanding of medical billing processes and reimbursement methodologies
CPC Certification or Equivalent
CPC certification or equivalent - Credentialed by recognized professional coding organizations (e.g., AAPC or AHIMA)
Education
Medical training in areas such as pre-med, nursing, pharmacy, or international medical programs. US board credentials are not …
