Job Description:
Blake Willson Group is seeking a highly experienced Financial Improvement and Audit Readiness (FIAR) Senior Associate to support our federal clients in achieving improved financial integrity, audit readiness, and operational effectiveness. This role requires deep expertise in accounting, audit remediation, and financial transformation within the Department of Defense (DoD) or other federal agencies. As a key contributor to our FIAR efforts, you will work directly with stakeholders to enhance financial data accuracy, strengthen internal controls, and modernize financial management systems. Your efforts will directly support the goal of achieving an unmodified audit opinion. In this position, your job duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Support the production and accuracy of quarterly and annual financial statements and footnotes.
- Conduct audit support and remediation activities, including data reconciliation, internal control assessments, and the development of Corrective Action Plans (CAPs).
- Assist in the modernization of financial management capabilities through process reengineering, adoption of emerging technologies, and system development.
- Ensure compliance with applicable DoD and federal financial policies, directives, and standards including GAAP, SFFAS, FFMIA, and FMFIA.
- Facilitate cross-functional coordination, communication, and collaboration with stakeholders across finance, audit, and technology teams.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- 7+ years of Federal financial management experience.
- 3+ years of Federal accounting experience.
Desired Skills:
- Familiarity with Federal audit processes and procedures is strongly desired.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
At Blake Willson Group, we believe in transparency and fairness in compensation practices. For this position, we offer a competitive salary range of $68,000 to $78,000 in the United States. Your individual salary within this range will be determined by various factors, including but not limited to your education, experience, skills, and geographic location.
