What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will assist in the execution of how Amgen approaches Global Congress operations and logistics. This position offers a unique view across all therapeutic areas, and all business functions. This perspective allows for our team to better define a “One Amgen Approach” in how we operate congress attendee logistics and ancillary events.

This person needs to demonstrate an understanding Global and local needs in providing support for global congresses as appropriate. They will work to execute and improve processes around attendee operations and logistics. Ancillary event support will reflect brand and stakeholder imperatives and the desired narrative. Our goal is to streamline congress logistics processes for wider Amgen staff so that they can focus on HCP engagement and better assist patients.

This role will have a transformational element, a strategic element, and an operational element:

  • Transformation: Work with the team to build opportunities for Amgen to centralize its management of Congresses in today’s environment. The deployment of centralized options to support Operations and Logistics and the associated behavior change will be a large portion of this role.
  • Strategy: Understanding and capitalizing on the objective of congresses will require a pan-congress vision in which “One Amgen” is front and center. Operationalize and support existing processes to further Amgen strategy.
  • Operations: This role will help support and understand the current operations, redefine processes, leading to a seamless operating model going forward for global congresses.
  • A successful candidate will help lead Amgen into a new approach around Congresses Globally through cross-functional partnership, embracing technology, and continuous innovation.

Role Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Per Program timeline development and management
  • Overall annual timeline development and management
  • Assist with housing block assignments and monitor attrition
  • Coordinate with Amgen RAE, agency, and congress association to procure meeting rooms at congress venues
  • Assist with crafting and managing registration platform and manage attendee submissions and approvals
  • Attendee communications and notifications
  • Work with various partners for badge allocation
  • Review, negotiate, and approve vendor contracts
  • Engage in regular communication with agencies
  • Onsite event oversight
  • Travel to 2-4 programs per year, plus annual team meeting

Basic Qualifications:

Master’s degree

OR

Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of event management or congress event related experience

OR

Associate’s degree and 6 years of event management or congress event related experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 8 years of event management or congress event related experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong eye for business, critical thinking and execution excellence skills honed by Congress Planning experience
  • Experience and strong acumen in Congress-Planning processes, including the use and application of current tools and frameworks.
  • Outstanding project and time management skills
  • Very strong cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Experience in SMM planning and operational systems
  • Experience handling external partners such as agencies
  • Strong ability to ‘connect dots’ across internal and external partners across functional and regional boundaries
  • Enable sharing of takeaways and knowledge, standard methodologies and insights connecting collaborators for efficient outcomes
  • Excellent written, verbal and communication and presentation skills
  • Outstanding ethics and integrity and comfort operating in a highly regulated environment
  • Skill to not only create process, but to gain buy-in from immediate and external team members
  • Possesses cultural awareness and sensitivity to form relationships and work effectively with colleagues and cultures around the world
  • Detail oriented approach with ability to process and manipulate spreadsheets
  • Knowledge of internal organizational process and procedures
  • Outstanding ethics and integrity and comfort operating in a highly regulated environment

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
