Senior Analyst Security Valuation

CAN, Ontario - Full Time Remote, Canada

Reporting to the Director, Pricing Group the Valuation Analyst is accountable for the front-line monitoring of daily global securities pricing, The Analyst will support daily valuations and exception processing to ensure a high quality of pricing that adheres to the pricing policy, procedures and practices and comply to internal and external audit requirements including SOX/Operational Risk Controls.   

Position Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the timely and accurate production of daily and monthly securities pricing.  The scope includes bonds, equities, private debt, securitized assets, private equity, commercial mortgages and other publicly traded assets globally.

  • Liaise with brokers, price vendors and front/middle/back offices to apply appropriate pricing structure for securities and ensure implementation maintenance of these structures.

  • Maintain all pricing controls, systems and reporting mechanisms which encompass regular reporting and reviews for pricing accuracy, quality and timeliness.

  • Ensure pricing reports and pricing data distributed adheres to accuracy, quality and timeliness requirements of downstream clients, systems, auditors, and senior management. 

  • Maintain efficient communication channel with downstream consumers of the pricing process.  Strong communication ensures the timely and effective resolution of issues, changing priorities by downstream processes, systems and or job functions, future and current projects, ad-hoc requests for pricing or pricing analysis or underlying pricing methodology disclosures.

  • Ensure pricing policy, procedures and practices follow all audit requirements and SOX/Operational Risk Controls.

  • Work with internal and external auditors and take all actions necessary to remediate gaps, if applicable. 

  • Establish proactive processes and practices, based on findings from previous audits and industry best practices. 

  • Design, develop and execute checklists, controls and quality assurance testing for operational risks associated with securities pricing. Provide recommendations to reduce operational risks to ensure pricing processes and procedures are complete, documented and followed through by the pricing team.  Reduce procedural gaps if any and provide recommendations for improved operations, whether by improving timeliness, accuracy, or quality.

  • Work with the Directors of the Pricing & Valuation Group on pricing related projects, audit reviews and potential new initiatives and requests.

Required Qualifications:

  • University degree specializing in Commerce, Math, Finance or related discipline. CA, CBV, CFA (or a combination thereof) designation an asset.

  • Well versed and familiar with Enterprise and Operational Risk Management

  • 5+ years' relevant experience with an asset management or valuation group, management experience beneficial

  • Significant experience with securities pricing, including fixed income, equities, private placement, private equities, and special entities.

  • Knowledge of investment products, including valuation/pricing methodologies for such products

  • Exceptional aptitude for math and financial analytical skills.

  • Knowledge of investment markets and benchmarks, as well as the ability to apply this knowledge to pricing analysis.

  • Industry experience in Best Practices for Securities Valuation and Risk Management.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and establish priorities to meet tight deadlines.

  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills.

  • Highly developed computer skills with the aptitude to learning new systems.

  • Strong management skills with the ability to motivate and manage staff.

  • Intermediate to Expert level skills in MS Excel, MS Access, PowerPoint & Visual Basic.

  • Working knowledge of MS Azure SQL and MS Power Platform

Salary range is expected to be between

$50,700.00 CAD - $84,500.00 CAD
