Summary

The Senior Advisor, Evidence & Strategic Learning (SD), will work closely with program teams and other stakeholders to ensure knowledge and learning are captured and shared to drive quality and impact across Department of Hunger and Livelihoods (DHL) programs. You will contribute to new business development positioning and quality program design by driving thought leadership and learning efforts for DHL. The position collaborates with the DHL Senior Management Team (SMT) and technical advisors to gather, analyze, and share programmatic evidence, successes, impact and challenges relating to food security, livelihoods, youth and climate interventions.

 

What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)

Positioning and Design Support for New Business Development (75%):

  • Drive positioning using key learnings from existing programs and facilitate evidence-based design drawing on best practices from internal and external sources.
  • Elevate research findings and programmatic successes internally and to key external audiences.
  • Together with technical colleagues, develop and apply frameworks and approaches that differentiate Save the Children’s work, including use of Common Approaches.
  • Collaborate with Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) and Knowledge Management and Communications colleagues in DHL to drive data analysis and documentation of program successes and challenges and elevate findings internally and externally. Collaborate with the Advisor, Program Development to prepare two pagers and evidence and learning summaries for key external stakeholders and audiences, including USAID and USDA.
  • Develop a workplan for DHL’s thought leadership, ensuring relevant technical and support staff involvement. Contribute to thought leadership activity planning and implementation for food security and livelihoods within DHL and for youth and climate in collaboration with DHL and other International Programs (IP) colleagues.
  • Represent Save the Children at external events to elevate our work in food security, livelihoods, youth and climate.
  • Facilitate evidence-based program design, including leveraging the research and learning generated through IDEAL and the AAs to support technical innovation and program quality of DHL portfolio.
  • Collaborate with technical colleagues to develop and apply frameworks and approaches that build on Save the Children’s strengths and differentiate us.
  • Elevate relevant common approaches, including Household Economy Analysis, within DHL and as part of proposal development process.
  • Support the development of proposals through technical contributions, writing, monitoring and evaluation plans or budgets, and proposal direction as appropriate.
