We are seeking a dynamic and collaborative Senior Accounting Manager to play a pivotal role in scaling and optimizing our accounting operations. This is not just a numbers role; it's a strategic partnership position. You will be a key business partner, working closely with FP&A, Operations, Engineering, and other departments to gain deep insights into our business and ensure accurate financial reporting. You will also lead Accounts Payable and be a go-to resource for employee expense inquiries. This role demands a strong understanding of technical accounting, particularly related to COGS and OPEX, coupled with exceptional communication and relationship-building skills. You will contribute by

The accounting team orchestrates the month end activities while also playing a role as the center of excellence for key processes such as fiscal close oversight and financial statement preparation. Our team has best in class partnering with finance and others in the business to ensure Hover achieves its fast paced close standard – each and every month. We are the core of producing Hover monthly financials and we do it with excellence.

As the Senior Accounting Manager, you will be the cornerstone of our non-revenue accounting operations, owning the complete month-end close process, including the preparation of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial statement preparation, ensuring adherence to GAAP standards. This role demands a strong partnership approach, requiring you to actively engage with FP&A, Operations, and other departments to gain a deep understanding of business activities and their financial implications. You will translate complex accounting principles into actionable insights, providing valuable financial analysis and support. You will also manage Accounts Payable, ensuring timely and accurate payments, and serve as the primary point of contact for employee expense reimbursement inquiries. Driving continuous process improvement, you will identify and implement efficiencies through automation and collaboration, supporting long-term accounting projects. Furthermore, you will manage external contractors for annual tax preparations and sales tax compliance, ensuring adherence to all relevant regulations and overseeing sales tax reporting. Additionally, you'll ensure compliance with accounting policies, financial regulations, and internal controls, managing both external and internal audit processes and overseeing sales tax reporting to maintain regulatory adherence and safeguard the organization's financial integrity.

Your background includes

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in public accounting or a combination of public and industry, with a preference for experience in financial services and/or software & technology.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and demonstrated ability to research and apply technical accounting principles.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to translate complex financial information into clear and concise language for non-financial audiences.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to digest complex information efficiently.
  • Proficiency in accounting systems such as NetSuite, expense management tools like Airbase/Ramp/Zip or similar, close management tools such as Floqast/Numeric, Carta, data visualization tools like Tableau, and advanced skills in Excel and Google Sheets.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, analytical abilities, and consistent follow-through, including project management skills.
  • Experience working closely with FP&A, Operations, and other business partners to provide financial insights and support decision-making.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders through subject matter expertise and facilitate dialogue that aligns with strategic priorities.

Hybrid roles at Hover

Hover has Hubs in San Francisco and New York City, where we expect that all employees living within a 50-mile radius of our offices will come into their local Hover office at least three times a week to build rapport and foster organic connection. At this time, Hover is not considering fully remote roles.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $156,000 - $178,000 annually. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all applicable US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
