Job Description:
Location: This position is remote, providing the candidate resides in one of the following markets: Santa Fe, NM; Denver, CO; Las Vegas, NV; Houston, TX; Dallas, TX; New York, NY; or Los Angeles, CA.
Compensation: The salary range for this position is $78,489.00 to $105,960.00. Compensation is based on location and experience.
Deadline: The deadline for submitting applications for this position is January 30, 2025. Meow Wolf reserves the right to extend this deadline if needed.
Job Summary:
The Senior Accountant position is an integral part of the Meow Wolf Accounting/Finance Team. The position reports to the Accounting Manager and works alongside Accounts Payable, Project Accountants, and Finance.
Job Responsibilities:
Perform daily cash management processes including bank statement reconciliations
Perform banking procedures including deposits, wires and transfers
Create, edit and maintain prepaid amortization schedules
Administer purchasing card program
Preparation and/or booking of:
Monthly unrecorded corporate credit card allocation
Monthly calculation of Compensating Tax
Invoice accruals
Property tax accruals
Account reconciliations
Assistance with:
Accounts receivable/recognition of private event payments
Maintenance of a full set of books
ARO, lease and loan accounting
Monthly, quarterly and annual closings
Preparation and distribution of accurate, timely financial information
1042’s and special projects
Budget and forecast preparation
Quarterly/annual audits
Development and maintenance of processes, policies and procedures
Rollouts of new accounting and business management software
Monthly calculation of Compensating Tax
1042’s
Ad hoc special projects
3rd party maintenance/ invoicing
Monitor and efficiently answer emails from internal and external sources
Prepare expense report approvals and provide occasional guidance for end users as needed
Display leadership in areas in need of efficiency
Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Associate degree in accounting, or in a related specialization.
5+ years’ experience in general ledger accounting, or similar.
A strong understanding of GAAP and other accounting principles.
Knowledge of financial statement preparation and internal controls.
Familiarity in analyzing financial reports, providing insights, and catching discrepancies.
Proficiency in accounting and business management software(s); Workday or similar platforms
Exceptional attention to detail.
Time-management and organizational skills.
Experience and ability to adhere to timelines and calendar of deliverables.
Well-developed interpersonal skills; both verbal and nonverbal.
Discretion regarding sensitive or confidential information.
High level of computer literacy; Excel, Google Suite, etc.
Adaptable to change and possess the ability to take on new tasks.
Excellent critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.
Possession of a service center mindset.
Ability to collaborate to create processes that both fulfill the requirements of accounting and the sometimes-atypical activities of other departments.
Exposure to working in a creative and dynamic work environment is preferred.

Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.

Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position that requires the ability to work a flexible schedule. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
