The Senior Accountant (Remote) is actively involved in the month-end close in a multiple legal entity structure and applies principles of accounting analyzes financial information and prepares accurate and timely financial reports.


The Senior Accountant role can be worked remotely. Portfolio has a headquarters based in Lake Forest, CA.

*Travel to Portfolio's home office, or office locations in TX and/or OH may be required.


*Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance and 3+ years of experience

*Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel is preferred.

*CPA Licensure is preferred (Active, or willing to obtain).


Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm (business hours), flexibility to work outside of these times is preferred. 

Compensation: $110K + Annually, dependent on work experience and background: Exceptional Benefits! 


Essential Functions: 

  • Review weekly bank transactions and prepare accounting system entries.
  • Review and prepare accounting system entries for all recapture weekly/monthly activities.
  • Review and prepare accounting system entries for all stop loss weekly/monthly activities.
  • Conduct month-end close activities to include the preparation and review of accounts reconciliations, journal entries, accrual schedules, variance analysis, and commentary for the internal financial statements and monthly reporting package. 
  • Prepare and effectively communicate balance sheet and income statement fluctuations, as they relate to prior year, budget, and forecast, identifying root causes for variances and resolution of issues.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly management reports, board presentations, and external financial statements.
  • Prepare and review various month-end close reports, financial statements, and analyses to validate the accuracy of the financial information, including but not limited to documenting results for submission to management and external auditors.
  • Reconcile, prepare, and coordinate audit-related activities.
Requirements

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance and 3+ years of experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Detail-oriented
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Strong financial analysis skills.  

Preferred Skills: 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel.
  • CPA Licensure (Active, or willing to obtain).
