Overview
Stellar Virtual is seeking a highly motivated and certified Secondary Science Teacher to join our team remotely. This role involves delivering engaging and effective science instruction to students in grades 6-12 through our virtual platform. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of various scientific disciplines, excellent communication and technology skills, and a passion for fostering a positive online learning environment. Responsibilities include curriculum implementation, assessment, individualized support, and collaboration to ensure student success.
Essential Duties
- One Number: 80% Student Participation
- Deliver engaging and interactive live virtual lessons aligned with Tennessee Science Standards for grades 6-12.
- Utilize diverse online teaching methods, resources, and technologies to meet varied learning styles and needs.
- Develop and deliver asynchronous learning activities, including interactive assignments, projects, and discussions.
- Provide timely and clear feedback on student work to enhance understanding and growth.
- Facilitate small group instruction and offer individualized student support.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
- Implement the Stellar Virtual science curriculum effectively and adapt instruction to individual student needs.
- Develop and administer formative and summative assessments to monitor learning and inform instruction.
- Analyze student data to identify learning gaps and adjust teaching strategies.
- Collaborate with curriculum specialists and other teachers to enhance the science curriculum.
- Maintain regular and effective communication with students and parents regarding progress, assignments, and concerns.
- Respond promptly to student and parent inquiries via email, phone, and virtual meetings.
- Support on-site testing events periodically throughout the year (required).
- Participate in virtual professional development and collaborate with colleagues on online teaching best practices.
- Work collaboratively with student support services (e.g., counselors, special education) to address student needs.
- Attend virtual staff meetings and contribute to the overall success of Stellar Virtual.
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
- Minimum of two (2) years of successful teaching experience, preferably in a secondary setting.
- Experience teaching a range of secondary science courses (e.g., General Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Earth Science).
- Demonstrated experience using online learning platforms and educational technology.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a virtual environment.
- Passion for working with students and fostering their academic growth in science.
- Residency in the state of Tennessee is required.
Education & Certification Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in Science, Science Education, or a related field.
- A valid Tennessee teaching license with an endorsement in Secondary Science (grades 6-12) or equivalent.
