Stellar Virtual was founded in 2019 with one school in Texas. We serve parents of K-12 students, unhappy with their current school, or needing an at-home/flexible learning environment. Today, Stellar Virtual has grown to six schools across three states: Texas, Arizona, and Indiana. Stellar Virtual is committed to going above and beyond for our virtual families.

Position Overview
The Secondary English/Language Arts (ELA) Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging and standards-aligned instruction to students in grades 6-12. In this virtual role, you will create a supportive online learning environment that fosters academic and social growth while utilizing technology to enhance the student experience. The ideal candidate is passionate about education, skilled in adapting to a virtual format, and committed to developing students’ reading, writing, and critical thinking skills.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging, student-centered lessons in English Language Arts that align with Indiana state standards and the Stellar Virtual curriculum.
- Use innovative virtual teaching methods and digital tools to enhance student learning, engagement, and participation in a fully online classroom.
- Provide individualized support and differentiated instruction to meet diverse learning needs, including those of students requiring accommodations or enrichment.
- Conduct synchronous and asynchronous instructional sessions, facilitating discussions, and utilizing interactive activities to promote active student engagement.
- Assess student progress regularly through formative and summative assessments, providing timely and constructive feedback.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on student performance, attendance, and progress, ensuring compliance with school policies.
- Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and administrators to provide a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
- Proctor state testing exams with students during in-person events, which may require periodic travel within the State of Indiana.
- Communicate proactively with students, families, and stakeholders to provide updates on academic progress and encourage parental involvement in the virtual learning process.
- Participate in professional development sessions and virtual faculty meetings, contributing to the continuous improvement of instructional practices.
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
- Experience in teaching English/Language Arts, preferably at the middle or high school level.
- Proficiency with virtual learning platforms (e.g., Google Classroom, Zoom, or similar), and a willingness to learn new digital tools as needed.
- Ability to create and adapt curriculum to meet the unique needs of virtual students.
- Proficiency in online learning platforms (e.g., BrightThinker, Google Classroom) and tools (e.g., Zoom, Classlink).
- Strong understanding of best practices in virtual instruction and engagement strategies.
- Strong classroom management skills in a virtual setting.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to connect with students and families.
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and backgrounds.
Education & Certification Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in English/Language Arts or a related field;
- A master’s degree is preferred.
- A valid Indiana State Teaching License in Secondary English/Lang. Arts (Grades 6-12).
