Our Research Laboratories in South San Francisco is focused on driving discovery research. Our new multi-disciplinary discovery research site offers state-of- the-art resources to explore the most promising science combined with our Company’s world-class Research and Discovery expertise in small molecules and biologics. Located within the heart of the Bay area’s biomedical community, research conducted in the new laboratories spans exploratory biology through early clinical development and is an integral part of our Company’s powerful world-class network of drug and vaccine discovery.

The Scientist position under the guidance of Laboratory Animal Veterinarians will provide study support and world class animal care to impact drug development and discovery and improve human health. Study support may include:

  • Performing or training of staff on animal handling
  • Compound administration
  • Dosing (All routes)
  • Sampling
  • Tissue collection
  • Animal ordering
  • Clinical observations

Other duties include understanding and executing in vivo studies including collaborating with researchers, obtaining formulated diets, monitoring and maintaining equipment, perform veterinary rounds including weekends and holidays, assist with perioperative care, provide husbandry oversite on weekends including room checks and emergency facility issues, engage in safety inspections and provide insights for safety initiatives, learn new procedures as needed. The ideal candidate should be team oriented, value workplace partnership and can work with minimal to no supervision.

Education: 

  • Bachelor's (with 2+ years) or Master's degree in Biology or related in vivo discipline with relevant experience

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Two (2) years of research in vivo field providing oncology study support

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • ALAT, AAALAS certification

  • Industry experience in pharma or biotech
