Our Discovery Biologics organization is seeking a talented scientist with a strong background in Biophysics to join our Antibody Generation group located in South San Francisco, CA. The Scientist will be a part of a diverse team that is focused on advancing projects by collecting and interpreting biophysical assay data for ongoing discovery programs. S/he also will be responsible for implementing novel biophysical assays and techniques to expand our capabilities. This role will work closely with an experienced team of interdisciplinary scientists and have regular opportunities to present findings to project teams and senior management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute high-throughput surface plasmon resonance (SPR) experiments to measure antibody-antigen binding affinities

  • Analyze and interpret experimental data, preparing clear and concise reports to communicate findings to the research team

  • Maintain detailed laboratory records, ensuring compliance with established protocols, quality control measures, and regulatory guidelines

  • Assist in the development and optimization of experimental protocols, contributing to the improvement of capabilities and workflow

  • Stay up to date with the latest scientific literature and technological advancements in the field of antibody discovery and characterization

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's (with 2+ years) or Master's in life sciences or related field of study and relevant experience listed below

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Experience in biophysical characterization of proteins or antibodies
  • Proven experience in conducting SPR experiments

  • Knowledge and understanding of protein structure, protein-ligand interactions, and protein biophysical properties

  • Demonstrated ability to tackle multiple projects and meet aggressive timelines

  • Demonstrated collaborative work experience across organization

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Hands-on experience with high throughput SPR instruments, such as Carterra LSA or Biacore 8K

  • Experience working with high-throughput methods and automation

  • Experience with related binding techniques, for example FACS, ITC, ELISA, and our company

  • Strong computer skills; experience working with databases and electronic lab notebooks
