About This Role:

The Digital Lab Informatics group seeks a Scientific Software Developer to design and deploy scientific data applications for R&D. In this role, you will collaborate with scientists to address data needs, evaluate and implement AWS services, integrate systems, design data workflows, develop serverless web apps, establish best practices, and maintain comprehensive documentation. The Scientific Software Developer will be responsible for the architecture, design, implementation, testing, and deployment of scientific data applications that significantly enhance the operations of our Research & Development division.

What You’ll Do:

  • Collaborate with scientists to address data needs and evaluate emerging technologies.
  • Design data workflows, develop serverless web apps, and integrate systems using RESTful APIs.
  • Establish software life cycle best practices and maintain comprehensive documentation.

Qualifications

Who You Are:

You are a software developer with hands-on experience working with scientific data and are passionate about developing AWS cloud solutions to support dry-lab automation and Next Generation Sequencing.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree with 3+ years in applying technologies to solve computational and data-intensive problems in the Biotech/Pharmaceutical industry.
  • Expertise in JavaScript (NodeJS, ReactJS), Java, and Python.
  • AWS cloud computing; experience in building serverless web applications with AWS Lambda is highly desirable
  • Experience with Relational and non-relational databases (e.g., Postgres, MongoDB).
  • Experience with Serverless Framework, Maven, and Ansible (desired).
  • Independent work on all stages of the systems development life cycle.
  • Experience with Source code version control systems, such as Git.
  • Next-generation sequencing (NGS) data generation and processing.
  • Linux systems and command-line environments.
  • DevOps, continuous integration, and continuous delivery.
  • Software life cycle management and agile methodology.

Additional Information

The base compensation range for this role is $80,300 to $120,400.  Base salary is determined by a combination of factors including, but not limited to, job related years of relevant experience, internal equity, and location of the job. Additionally, this role is eligible for participation in Biogen’s LTI grants and other incentive programs.
